Opening semi-wide in around 700 theaters is the British romantic comedy Finding Emily directed by Alicia MacDonald and starring Spike Fearn, Angourie Rice and Minnie Driver. Opening in Chicago this weekend before expanding to most major markets next Friday, September 4 is the drama The Sun Never Sets written and directed by Joe Swanberg and starring Dakota Fanning, Jake Johnson, Cory Michael Smith, Anna Konkle, Debby Ryan, Lamorne Morris and Karley Sciortino. The movie doesn’t feature an original score. Chris Swanson & Jessica Berndt are the project’s music supervisors. The movie, which follows a young woman whose life is thrown into chaos when her boyfriend, who is older and divorced with children, insists they take space to evaluate the relationship, premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and is being distributed by the Independent Film Company.
Opening in select U.S. theaters this weekend is the South Korean zombie thriller Colony (Gunche) written and directed by Yeon Sang-ho and starring Gianna Jun, Koo Kyo-hwan, Ji Chang-wook, Shin Hyun-been, Kim Shin-rock and Go Soo. Chai Min-joo has composed the film’s original music. Wave Music Production & Showbox Corp have released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score earlier this year when the movie opened in South Korea.
