David Fleming has won his second Emmy Award for his score for the episode Out History from the Apple TV original series Widow’s Bay in the Outstanding Music Composition for a Series category at tonight’s second night of the 78th Creative Prime Emmy Awards. Sean Callery received his fifth Emmy Award and Sara Barone was honored with her first Emmy in the Outstanding Music Composition for a Limited or Anthology Series, Movie or Special category for their score from the episode The Beast and Me of the Netflix limited series The Beast in Me. Dave Porter has won the Emmy Award for his theme for the Apple TV series Pluribus in the Outstanding Main Title Theme Music category.

Andrew Bird’s & Gavin Brivik’s Original Song ‘Need Someone’ from ‘The Pitt’ Released
Loma Vista Recordings has released the original song Need Someone from the sixth episode (entitled 12:00 P.M.) of the second season of the HBO Max original series The Pitt. The track written and performed by Andrew Bird & the show’s composer Gavin Brivik is now available to stream/download on all major digital music services, including Amazon. Also listen to the song after the jump. The Pitt is created by R. Scott Gemmill and stars Noah Wyle, Tracey Ifeachor, Patrick Ball, Katherine LaNasa, Isa Briones, Fiona Dourif, l, Taylor Dearden, Supriya Ganesh, Gerran Howel and Shabana Azeez.

Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the sci-fi adventure Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes directed by Wes Ball and starring Owen Teague, Freya Allan, Kevin Durand, William H. Macy and Peter Macon. The film’s original music is composed by John Paesano (Daredevil, The Maze Runner, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Cheaper by the Dozen, Invincible, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Truth Be Told). Hollywood Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Also opening wide is the comedy Not Another Church Movie written and directed by Johnny Mack and starring Kevin Daniels, Jamie Foxx, Vivica A. Fox, Kyla Pratt, Tisha Campbell, Jasmine Guy, Lamorne Morris, Luc Ashley, Buddy Lewis, T’Shaun Barret and Mickey Rourke. Ainz “Brainz” Prasad (Dad Stop Embarrassing Me!) and Ameya Saraf have composed the film’s original score. No word on a soundtrack release. The movie, which follows a billionaire talk show host who uses her direct connection to God to demand he deliver a hero to help her plummeting ratings, is being released by Briarcliff Entertainment.
Andrew Bird Scoring Chris Pine’s ‘Poolman’
Andrew Bird (Norman, Baskets, Outside In, The Bubble) has composed the original score for the upcoming noir comedy Poolman. The film marks the directorial debut of actor Chris Pine and stars Pine himself, Annette Bening, Danny DeVito, Jennifer Jason Leigh and DeWanda Wise. The movie follows an anxious pool cleaner who uncovers a curious conspiracy in the city of Los Angeles. Pine also co-wrote the screenplay with Ian Gotler.
Michael Andrews Scoring Judd Apatow’s ‘The Bubble’
Composer Michael Andrews (Donnie Darko, Neighbors, Daddy’s Home, Me and You and Everyone We Know, Bad Teacher, Instant Family) is reuniting with director Judd Apatow (The 40-Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up, Trainwreck) on the upcoming Netflix original film The Bubble. The movie’s ensemble cast includes Karen Gillan, Iris Apatow, Fred Armisen, Maria Bakalova, Keegan-Michael Key, David Duchovny, Leslie Mann, Peter Serafinowicz and Pedro Pascal. Andrew Bird (Norman, Outside In) has also contributed original music to the comedy, which revolves around a group of actors and actresses stuck inside a pandemic bubble at a hotel attempting to complete a film.

Three new movies are opening nationwide this week:
Already in theaters since Thursday is the movie adaptation of Ready Player One directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Tye Sheridan, Ben Mendelsohn, T.J. Miller, Simon Pegg, Mark Rylance and Olivia Cooke. The film’s original music is composed by Alan Silvestri (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, The Avengers). WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack featuring the composer’s score today (click here for the album details). The label has also released a separate soundtrack featuring a selection of songs from the movie (click here for more information).
Also opening nationwide is the thriller Acrimony written and directed by Tyler Perry and starring Taraji P. Henson, Lyriq Bent, Ajiona Alexus and Antonio Madison. Christopher Lennertz (Ride Along, Horrible Bosses, Baywatch, Lost in Space, Supernatural) has composed the film’s original music. No word yet on a release of the score. Warner Bros. Andrew Bird Scoring Lynn Shelton’s ‘Outside In’
Singer/songwriter Andrew Bird has composed the original music for the upcoming indie drama Outside In. The film is directed by Lynn Shelton (Your Sister’s Sister, Laggies) and stars Jay Duplass, Edie Falco, Kaitlyn Dever and Ben Schwartz. The movie follows an ex-con who is struggling to readjust to life in his small town and forms an intense bond with his former high-school teacher. Shelton also co-wrote the screenplay with Duplass. Mel Eslyn (Blue Jay, The One I Love) is producing the project with Lacey Leavitt.

Premiering tonight is the revival mini-series of The X-Files created by Chris Carter and starring David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, Mitch Pileggi, as well as guest stars including Joel McHale, Robbie Amell and Lauren Ambrose. Mark Snow (Millennium, Smallville, Blue Bloods, Ghost Whisperer) who previously scored all episodes of the original series, as well as the two movie adaptations, returns as the composer of the 6-part series. Premiering tomorrow, January 25, is new Fox drama Lucifer based on the DC Comics characters created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth & Mike Dringenberg, developed by Tom Kapinos and starring Tom Ellis, Lauren German, Rachael Harris, DB Woodside, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro and Scarlett Estevez. The show’s original music is composed by Marco Beltrami (The Wolverine, Scream, World War Z, 3:10 to Yuma) and Dennis Smith. FX’s ‘Baskets’ to Feature Music by Andrew Bird
Andrew Bird is composing the score for the new FX original series Baskets. The show is created by Louis C.K., Zach Galifianakis & Jonathan Krisel (Portlandia) and stars Galifianakis himself, alongside Louie Anderson, Martha Kelly, Sabina Sciubba and Ernest Adams. The comedy is set in Bakersfield, California and follows a man who sets out on becoming a professional clown. After failing to get a degree at a prestigious clowning school in Paris, he is stuck with a job at a local rodeo. Louis C.K., Galifianakis & Krisel are also executive producing the project with M. Blair Breard (Louie), Dave Becky (Master of None, Everybody Hates Chris), Marc Gurvitz (According to Jim) and Andrea Pett-Joseph.
‘A Lyke Wake Dirge’ by Andrew Bird & Matt Berninger from AMC’s ‘Turn’ to Be Released
Mercury Records will release the original song A Lyke Wake Dirge from the AMC original series Turn. The track is written by Andrew Bird and Matt Berninger and was featured in the first season finale that premiered earlier this month. Bird has previously composed songs for such films as The Muppets and also scored the indie dramedy Norman. Berninger is best known as the frontman of The National. A Lyke Wake Dirge will be released as a single on July 8, 2014. Turn is created by Craig Silverstein and stars Jamie Bell, Seth Numrich, Daniel Henshall, Heather Lind, Meegan Warner, Kevin R. McNally, Burn Gorman, Angus Macfadyen, JJ Feild and Samuel Roukin.
