Mark Mothersbaugh (Thor: Ragnarok, The Royal Tenenbaums, Hotel Transylvania) has been tapped to score the upcoming animated comedy Connected. The film is directed by Mike Rianda and features the voice talent of Abbi Jacobson, Danny McBride, Maya Rudolph, Mike Rianda, Eric Andre and Olivia Colman. The animated comedy follows a a creative outsider who is accepted into the film school of her dreams. When she and her family drive to her school, their plans are interrupted by a tech uprising. Rianda also co-wrote the screenplay with co-director Jeff Rowe. Phil Lord & Christopher Miller are producing the Sony Pictures Animation production with Kurt Albrecht.

‘The Willoughbys’ Soundtrack Details
BMG will release the official soundtrack album for the Netflix animated feature The Willoughbys. The album features the film’s original music composed by Mark Mothersbaugh (Thor: Ragnarok, The LEGO Movie ,21/22 Jump Street, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Hotel Transylvania). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, April 22 and will be available to stream/download here. Mothersbaugh also co-wrote the Alessia Cara-performed original song I Choose, which is already available as a digital single. The Willoughbys is directed by Kris Pearn, co-directed by Rob Lodermeier and stars Will Forte, Maya Rudolph, Alessia Cara, Terry Crews, Martin Short, Jane Krakowski, Seán Cullen, Ricky Gervais.

The film is directed by Kris Pearn & Cory Evans and features the voices of Will Forte, Alessia Cara, Ricky Gervais, Terry Crews, Maya Rudolph, Jane Krakowski and Martin Short. The movie is based on based on the children’s book of same name by Lois Lowry and tells the story of four children abandoned by their selfish parents who learn how to adapt their old-fashioned values to the contemporary world. Pearn also wrote the screenplay.

FX’s ‘What We Do in the Shadows’ TV Series to Feature Original Score by Mark Mothersbaugh
Mark Mothersbaugh (The LEGO Movie, The Royal Tenenbaums, 21/22 Jump Street, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs) is composing the original score for the new FX original series What We Do in the Shadows. The show is created by Jemaine Clement based on Taika Waititi’s 2014 feature of the same title and stars Matt Berry, Kayvan Novak, Natasia Demetriou, Harvey Guillén and Mark Proksch. The comedy is based on the feature film of the same name from Jemaine Clement & Taika Waititi and looks into the daily (or rather, nightly) lives of four vampires who’ve “lived” together for hundreds of years.

‘The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part’ Score Album Details
WaterTower Music will release a score album for the animated feature The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part. The album features the film’s original music composed by Mark Mothersbaugh (Thor: Ragnarok, 21/22 Jump Street, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, The Royal Tenenbaums) who previously scored 2014’s original The LEGO Movie, as well as 2017’s The LEGO Ninjago Movie. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, February 7 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon (CD version) and will also be available to download here. As previously reported, a separate album featuring the songs from the movie is also being released this week.
Mark Mothersbaugh to Develop Stage Musical ‘SLAM’ with Tony Hawk
Producers Anita Greenspan and pro-skater Tony Hawk with executive producer Adam Zotovich announced today that a new musical adaptation of the 2007 Nick Hornby (About a Boy, High Fidelity) novel, SLAM, is in development. Film composer Mark Mothersbaugh (Thor: Ragnarok, The LEGO Movie, 21/22 Jump Street, The Royal Tenenbaums) is writing the music and lyrics for the project, which will feature a book by Kyle Jarrow (SpongeBob SquarePants the Musical). Hawk, who is featured as a character in the novel, is a producer on the project and is slated to develop skate choreography.
