Opening in theaters nationwide this week is the political comedy drama Vice written and directed by Adam McKay and starring Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Steve Carrell, Sam Rockwell, Jesse Plemons, Alison Pill, Lily Rabe and Tyler Perry. The film’s original music is composed by Nicholas Britell (Moonlight, The Big Short, If Beale Street Could Talk, Battle of the Sexes, Succession). Also opening wide is the comedy Holmes & Watson written and directed by Etan Cohen and starring Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly, Rebecca Hall, Rob Brydon, Kelly Macdonald and Ralph Fiennes. Mark Mothersbaugh (The LEGO Movie, Thor: Ragnarok, 21/22 Jump Street, The Royal Tenenbaums) has composed the film’s original score. Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin) and Glenn Slater have contributed the original song Strange Sensation to the movie. ‘Holmes & Watson’ Soundtrack Details

Sony Classical will release the official soundtrack album for the comedy Holmes & Watson. The album features the film’s original music composed by Mark Mothersbaugh (The LEGO Movie, Thor: Ragnarok, 21/22 Jump Street, The Royal Tenenbaums, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs). The soundtrack will be released on December 21 and will be available to download on Amazon. A CD version is available to order here. Holmes & Watson is written and directed by Etan Cohen and stars Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly, Rebecca Hall, Rob Brydon, Kelly Macdonald and Ralph Fiennes. The movie follows legendary detective Sherlock Holmes and his partner Doctor Watson as they use their incredible deductive minds to solve a mystery.

Premiering tonight is the Bravo original series Dirty John created by Alexandra Cunningham and starring Connie Britton, Eric Bana, Julia Garner, Juno Temple, Jean Smart, Kevin Zegers, Keiko Agena, John Karna, Sprague Grayden and Cliff Chamberlain. The show’s original music is composed by Mark Mothersbaugh (The LEGO Movie, Thor: Ragnarok, 21/22 Jump Street, The Royal Tenenbaums). Premiering tomorrow, November 26, is the Epix original documentary The Panama Papers directed by Alex Winter and produced by Bungalow Media + Entertainment, Trouper Productions and Zipper Bros. Films. Pedro Bromfman (Narcos, RoboCop, Elite Squad) has composed the film’s original music. The documentary details the unprecedented coordination of journalists from around the world working in secret, at great personal risk, to expose the largest data leak in history. The movie received an awards-qualifying theatrical release earlier this month and will air exclusively on Epix.

Mark Mothersbaugh is scoring the new Bravo original anthology series Dirty John. The show is created by Alexandra Cunningham (Chance, Aquarius) and stars Connie Britton, Eric Bana, Julia Garner, Juno Temple, Jean Smart, Kevin Zegers, Keiko Agena, John Karna, Sprague Grayden and Cliff Chamberlain. The drama is based on the articles and true crime podcast of the same title from LA Times reporter Christopher Goffard and tells the true story of how Debra’s romance with the charismatic John Meehan spiraled into secrets, denial and manipulation.

Mark Mothersbaugh has recently composed the original score for the upcoming comedy Holmes & Watson. The film is written and directed by Etan Cohen (Get Hard) and stars Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly, Noah Jupe, Kelly Macdonald, Rebecca Hall, Ralph Fiennes & Hugh Laurie. The movie is a comedic take on Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic mysteries featuring Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson. Ferrell is also producing the project with Adam McKay (The Big Short, Anchorman), Jimmy Miller (Bad Teacher, Step Brothers) and Clayton Townsend (Bridesmaids, The 40-Year Old Virgin).

Premiere (via The Playlist) is reporting that Mark Mothersbaugh is composing original songs for Wes Anderson’s, currently untitled, next movie. The film is being described as a French musical set in a fictional city in the 1950s. No specific plot details have been revealed for the project and no casting announcements have been made yet. No word yet on whether Mothersbaugh will also be providing the original score. The composer scored Anderson’s first four movies (including Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums), while Alexandre Desplat composed the music for the director’s last several features (including The Grand Budapest Hotel and this year’s Isle of Dogs).

Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the animated sequel Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation directed by Genndy Tartakovsky and starring Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Selena Gomez, Kevin James, David Spade and Steve Buscemi. The film’s original score is composed by Mark Mothersbaugh (Thor: Ragnarok, The LEGO Movie). Selections of the composer’s score are available on a soundtrack compilation featuring the composer’s music from all three movies in the series (click here for the full details). Madison Gate Records has released the original song It’s Party Time written by David Foster & Michael Bublé and performed by Joe Jonas (click here for more information). Also available are digital singles feat. Tiësto’s DJ music from the movie, as well as the song I See Love by Jonas Blue feat. Joe Jonas.

Also opening wide is the action thriller Skyscraper directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber and starring Dwayne Johnson, Neve Campbell, Chin Han, Roland Møller, Pablo Schreiber, Hannah Quinlivan, Byron Mann and Noah Taylor. Steve Jablonsky (Transformers, The Island, Ender’s Game, Deepwater Horizon) has composed the film’s original music. Warner Bros. Pictures has confirmed that Mark Mothersbaugh will return as the composer for the upcoming animated sequel The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part. The film is directed by Mike Mitchell (Shrek Ever After, Trolls, Sky High) and features the voices of Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Nick Offerman, Alison Brie, Tiffany Haddish, Stephanie Beatriz, and Arturo Castro. Phil Lord & Christopher Miller (21/22 Jump Street, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs) who helmed the 2014 original movie wrote the screenplay with Adam Pava (The Boxtrolls) and Michael Fogel.
