The only new movie opening in theaters nationwide this week is the action comedy Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard directed by Patrick Hughes and starring Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson, Salma Hayek, Antonio Banderas, Morgan Freeman, Frank Grillo, Caroline Goodall, Rebecca Front, Gabriella Wrigh and Richard E. Grant. The the film’s original music is composed by Atli Örvarsson (Defending Jacob, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, Vantage Point, The Edge of Seventeen, The Eagle, Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga). Opening in around 500 theaters is the documentary The Sparks Brothers directed by Edgar Wright about brothers/bandmates Ron and Russell Mael and their overlooked rock band Sparks. The film’s doesn’t feature an original score. Gary Welch serves as the project’s music supervisor. Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack EP featuring three songs by the band from their 2018 London performance, as well alyric read by Neil Gaiman today. Danny Bensi and Saunder Jurriaans are set to reteam with director Matthew Ross on the upcoming thriller Siberia. The film starring Keanu Reeves, Ana Ularu, Pasha Lychnikoff and Molly Ringwald. The movie follows an American diamond merchant who travels to Russia to sell rare blue diamonds of questionable origin and finds himself in a love-obsessed relationship with a Russian cafe owner. Scott B. Smith (A Simple Plan, The Ruins) wrote the screenplay. Reeves is also producing the project with Stephen Hamel (Passengers, Henry’s Crime), Gabriela Bacher (What a Man), Braden Aftergood and David Hansen (Lovesong). 
Premiering tonight is the new Showtime series Ray Donovan created by Ann Biderman (Primal Fear, Southland) and starring Liev Schreiber, Jon Voight, Paula Malcomson, Eddie Marsan, Katherine Moennig, Dash Mihok, Kerris Dorsey, Pooch Hall, Steven Bauer and Devon Bagby. The show’s score is composed by Marcelo Zarvos (The Words, The Big C, The Good Shepherd). The drama follows a go-to guy who makes the problems of LA’s celebrities, superstar athletes, and business moguls disappear and experiences his own problems when his father is unexpectedly released from prison.
