ABKCO Records will release the official soundtrack album for Wes Anderson’s comedy The Phoenician Scheme. The album features the film’s original score composed by Academy Award winner Alexandre Desplat (The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Shape of Water, The Queen, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The King’s Speech, Godzilla). Also included are classical pieces by Igor Stravinsky, Ludwig van Beethoven, Johann Sebastian Bach, as well as tracks by Glenn Miller & His Orchestra, Gene Krupa & others. The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, May 30 (visit Amazon to stream/download). A vinyl edition is scheduled to come out on July 11 and is now available for pre-order here. Composer Alexandre Desplat (The Shape of Water, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The Queen, The King’s Speech, Philomena, Godzilla) is reteaming with director Wes Anderson on the upcoming comedy drama The Phoenician Scheme. The film starring Benicio del Toro, Mia Threapleton, Michael Cera, Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, Riz Ahmed, Jeffrey Wright, Scarlett Johansson, Mathieu Amalric, Richard Ayoade, Hope Davis, Rupert Friend and Benedict Cumberbatch tells the story of a family and a family business. Anderson also wrote the screenplay based on a story by himself and Roman Coppola.

The full details of the soundtrack album for Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City have been revealed. The album features the film’s original score composed by Academy Award winner Alexandre Desplat (The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Queen, The Shape of Water, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallow). Also included are the songs from the movie, including the original tracks You Can’t Wake Up If You Don’t Fall Asleep co-written (with Richard Hawley) and performed by Jarvis Cocker and Dear Alien (Who Art In Heaven) written by Cocker, Hawley & Anderson and performed by the movie’s cast (listen to the full track below), as well as songs by Slim Whitman, Bing Crosby, Burl Ives, Tex Ritter, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Johnny Duncan, Eddy Arnold & others. Randall Poster serves as the project’s music supervisor. The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, June 23 by ABKCO Records and is now available for pre-order on Amazon.

Alexandre Desplat is set to reteam with Wes Anderson on the director’s next feature, Asteroid City. The film is written and directed by Anderson and stars Tom Hanks, Margot Robbie, Scarlett Johansson, Adrien Brody, Tilda Swinton, Sophia Lillis, Bill Murray, Maya Hawke, Bryan Cranston, Fisher Stevens, Jake Ryan, Jeffrey Wright, Liev Schreiber, Rupert Friend, Jeff Goldblum, Hope Davis, Matt Dillon, Jason Schwartzman and Tony Revolori. No plot details have been announced yet. Anderson is also producing the project with Jeremy Dawson & Steven Rales (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl).

Premiere (via The Playlist) is reporting that Mark Mothersbaugh is composing original songs for Wes Anderson’s, currently untitled, next movie. The film is being described as a French musical set in a fictional city in the 1950s. No specific plot details have been revealed for the project and no casting announcements have been made yet. No word yet on whether Mothersbaugh will also be providing the original score. The composer scored Anderson’s first four movies (including Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums), while Alexandre Desplat composed the music for the director’s last several features (including The Grand Budapest Hotel and this year’s Isle of Dogs).

Alexandre Desplat confirmed in a recent interview with Arturia (embedded after the jump) that he is reuniting with Wes Anderson on the upcoming stop-motion animated feature Isle of Dogs. The movie is written and directed by Anderson (The Royal Tenenbaums, Rushmore) and features the voices of F. Murray Abraham, Bob Balaban, Bud Cort, Bryan Cranston, Greta Gerwig, Jeff Goldblum, Akira Ito, Scarlett Johansson, Harvey Keitel, Bill Murray, Kunichi Nomura, Edward Norton, Yoko Ono, Koyu Rankin, Liev Schreiber, Tilda Swinton, Akira Takayama & Frank Wood. The film is set in Japan and follows a boy’s odyssey in search of his dog.
