ABKCO Records will release the official soundtrack album for Wes Anderson’s comedy The Phoenician Scheme. The album features the film’s original score composed by Academy Award winner Alexandre Desplat (The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Shape of Water,  The Queen, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The King’s Speech, Godzilla). Also included are classical pieces by Igor Stravinsky, Ludwig van Beethoven, Johann Sebastian Bach, as well as tracks by Glenn Miller & His Orchestra, Gene Krupa & others. The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, May 30 (visit Amazon to stream/download). A vinyl edition is scheduled to come out on July 11 and is now available for pre-order here. Check back on this page for the purchase links. Already out now as a digital single (from Sony Classical) is Stravinsky’s L’Oiseau de Feu (The Firebird) (1910 Version). The Phoenician Scheme is written and directed by Anderson and stars Benicio del Toro, Mia Threapleton, Michael Cera, Bryan Cranston, Tom Hanks, Riz Ahmed, Scarlett Johansson, Jeffrey Wright, Mathieu Amalric, Hope Davis, Richard Ayoade, Rupert Friend and Benedict Cumberbatch. The movie, which tells the story of a family and a family business, premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and is being released in select theaters this coming weekend by Focus Features before expanding nationwide next Friday, June 6.
