Michael Abels (Get Out, Us, Nope, The Burial, Landscape with Invisible Hand, See You Yesterday, Breaking) has been tapped to score Lucasfilm’s upcoming Disney+ original series The Acolyte. The show is created by Leslye Headland (Russian Doll) and stars Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto, Jodie Turner-Smith, Dafne Keen, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chapman, Charlie Barnett and Carrie-Anne Moss. The drama is set in the final days of the High Republic era and tells the story of a former Padawan who reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever anticipated.

‘The Lions of Sicily’ Soundtrack Album Released
Hollywood Records has released a soundtrack album for the Italian Disney+ original series The Lions of Sicily (I Leoni di Sicilia). The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Maurizio Filardo (The Place, The First Day of My Life, All You Need Is Crime, Supereroi). Also included are several tracks by Marianne Mirage feat. Marquis. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon (and any other major digital music services), where you can also check out the track list. The Lions of Sicily directed by Paolo Genovese is based on Stefania Auci’s bestseller The Florios of Sicily and stars Michele Riondino, Miriam Leone, Donatella Finocchiaro, Eduardo Scarpetta, Vinicio Marchioni, Paolo Briguglia, Ester Pantano and Adele Cammarata.
‘Nǎi Nai & Wài Pó’ Soundtrack EP Released
Constellation Music has released a soundtrack EP for the documentary short Nǎi Nai & Wài Pó. The 5-track EP features the film’s original score composed by Giosuè Greco (Welcome to Wrexham, Let the Right One In, Didi, Not Going Quietly). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on all major digital music services, including Amazon. Also listen to the composer’s title track after the jump. Nǎi Nai & Wài Pó is directed by Sean Wang and centers on the first-generation Taiwanese American filmmaker’s grandmas who are inseparable best friends and roommates in their 80s and 90s. The short premiered at last year’s SXSW Film Festival, where it received the Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award, and has recently been nominated for an Academy Award in the Documentary Short category.

Premiering on Wednesday, January 31, is the FX limited series Feud: Capote vs. The Swans developed by Jon Robin Baitz and starring Tom Hollander, Naomi Watts, Diane Lane, Calista Flockhart, Chloë Sevigny, Demi Moore, Treat Williams, Molly Ringwald, Joe Mantello and Russell Tovey. The show’s original score is composed by Julia Newman (At the Gates) and Thomas Newman (The Shawshank Redemption, Finding Nemo, American Beauty, 1917) has contributed the main title theme. Hollywood Records will release a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ music this coming week. Soundtrack Album for National Geographic’s ‘A Real Bug’s Life’ to Be Released
Hollywood Records will release a soundtrack album for National Geographic’s Disney+ original series A Real Bug’s Life. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Mark Mothersbaugh (Thor: Ragnarok, The LEGO Movie, 21/22 Jump Street, The Royal Tenenbaums, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, The Croods: A New Age). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, January 26 and will be available to stream/download on all major digital music platforms, including Amazon. A Real Bug’s Life narrated by Awkwafina is inspired by Pixar’s 1998 animated feature A Bug’s Life and centers on nine different micro bug worlds around the world, where the forces of nature play out on a miniature scale and where tiny creatures rely on amazing powers and extraordinary alliances to make it through each day.

Hollywood Records has released a soundtrack album for the Japanese Disney+/Hulu live-action/anime hybrid series Dragons of Wonderhatch. The album features selections of the show’s original score composed by Hisaki Kato (Summer Blooms, Mio on the Shore), Yasunori Nishiki (Octopath Traveler, NeverDead) and Kana Inukai. Also included is Chiaki Sato’s cover of The Cranberries’ Dreams (in both Japanese and English language versions). Dragons of Wonderhatch is directed by Kentaro Hagiwara and animation director Takashi Otsuka and stars Mackenyu, Sena Nakajima, Rena Tanaka, Daiken Okudaira, Masaki Miura, Sumire, Riko Narumi and Go Morita.
Sacha & Evgueni Galperine Scoring Disney+’s ‘Kaiser Karl’
Sacha & Evgueni Galperine (The Undoing, Scenes from a Marriage, Radioactive, Loveless, The Family, Wizard of Lies, Happening) are scoring the upcoming French Disney+ original series Kaiser Karl. The show is created by Isaure Pisani-Ferry, Jennifer Have & Raphaëlle Bacqué (author of the eponymous biography) and stars Daniel Brühl as Karl Lagerfeld, as well as Théodore Pellerin, Arnaud Valois, Alex Lutz and Agnès Jaoui. The biographical drama directed by Jérôme Salle (Largo Winch, Zulu) and Audrey Estrougo (An Ordinary Story, By Your Side) chronicles the rise of the fashion designer through who – after meeting and falling in love with Jacques de Bascher in the 1970s – finds himself in competition with Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé, the head of the most prestigious fashion brand around.
Ré Olunuga Scoring Disney+’s ‘Iwájú’
Nigerian composer Ré Olunuga (Girl, Up North, Coming from Insanity) has recently scored the upcoming Disney+ original event series Iwájú. The show marks the first collaboration between Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pan-African entertainment company Kugali and features the voices of Simisola Gbadamosi, Dayo Okeniyi, Siji Soetan, Femi Branch, and Weruche Opia. The 6-parter is set in a futuristic Lagos, Nigeria and tells the coming-of-age story of a young girl from the wealthy island and her best friend as they discover the secrets and dangers hidden in their different worlds.

Linda Perry Scoring Amber Sealey’s ‘Out of My Mind’
Linda Perry (Luckiest Girl Alive, To Leslie, Citizen Penn, Kid 90) has composed the original score for the upcoming drama Out of My Mind. The film is directed by Amber Sealey (No Man of God) and stars Phoebe-Rae Taylor, Rosemarie DeWitt, Luke Kirby, Courtney Taylor, Michael Chernus and Judith Light. The movie is based on the bestselling novel of the same title by Sharon M. Draper and tells the story of a nonverbal wheelchair user who has cerebral palsy as she is navigating sixth grade.
