Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the biographical musical drama Michael directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Jaafar Jackson, Nia Long, Miles Teller, Laura Harrier, Juliano Krue Valdi and Colman Domingo. Harvey Mason, Jr. serves as the project’s executive music producer. John Warhurst is the music supervisor and Lior Rosner has provided the underscore cues. Click here for the full music team credits. Columbia Records has released a soundtrack album featuring thirteen Michael Jackson songs today. Also opening wide is the comedy thriller Over Your Dead Body directed by Jorma Taccone and starring Samara Weaving, Jason Segel, Timothy Olyphant, Keith Jardine, Paul Guilfoyle and Juliette Lewis. The film’s original score is composed by Matthew Compton (Palm Springs, MacGruber, Into the Deep, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, The Last Stop in Yuma County, Better Start Running). Stephen Rennicks to Score Lenny Abrahamson’s Next Feature

Element Pictures has announced that composer Stephen Rennicks (Good Luck to You, Leo Grande, The Quiet Girl, Alice & Jack, Rosie, Rebellion) is set to reteam with Lenny Abrahamson on the director’s next, currently untitled, feature. The film is written and directed by Abrahamson and will star Tom Burke, Eve Hewson and Shane Meagher. No plot details have been revealed yet for the movie, which is set in Dublin’s Jewish community in the late 1970s. Abrahamson is also producing the project with Ed Guiney (The Favourite, The Lobster), Andrew Lowe (Poor Things, Bugonia) and Catherine Magee (Small Things Like These).

The film is written and directed by Kirk Jones (Nanny McPhee, Waking Ned Devine) and stars Robert Aramayo, Peter Mullan, Maxine Peake, Scott Ellis Watson and Shirley Henderson. The movie tells the true story of John Davidson, a trailblazer who was diagnosed with Tourette’s at age 15 and faced and overcame many hardships from adolescence and early adulthood as a result of what was a little known condition in 1980’s Britain.

The Quiet Girl is written and directed by Colm Bairéad and stars Catherine Clinch, Carrie Crowley, Andrew Bennett and Michael Patric. The movie, which just received an Academy Award nomination in the International Feature category last week, is set in 1981 rural Ireland and revolves around a 9-year old girl who is sent away from her dysfunctional family to live with foster parents for the summer.
