Lakeshore Records will release the soundtrack album for the critically acclaimed drama The Sessions. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award-nominated composer Marco Beltrami (3:10 to Yuma, The Hurt Locker). The Sessions is written and directed by Ben Lewin and stars John Hawkes, Helen Hunt and William H. Macy. The film centers on paraplegic polio victim who decides to explore his sexuality and hires a sex surrogate and soon develops a relationship that changes both of their lives. The movie premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival where it received the Audience Award and was picked up by Fox Searchlight for domestic distribution. Varese Sarabande has announced the details for the soundtrack album for the horror thriller Sinister. The album features the film’s original music composed by Christopher Young (Hellraiser, SpiderMan 3, The Shipping News). Adele confirmed today that she has co-written and performed the theme song for the latest James Bond film Skyfall. The song is written by the English singer/songwriter and Paul Hepworth (Rolling in the Deep) and was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London. Hepworth is also credited as the arranger with J.A.C. Redford on the sheet music of the song that Adele posted on Twitter this morning (see image attached after the jump). Redford is best known as a composer for films and TV shows including St. Elsewhere and as an orchestrator for such composers as James Horner and Skyfall‘s composer Thomas Newman. The song will be available on Adele’s official site on Friday. The single is also available for pre-order on iTunes. Ad Litteram will release a soundtrack album for the French-Canadian sci-fi drama Mars & Avril. The album features the film’s original music is written by Academy Award-nominated composer Benoit Charest (The Triplets of Belleville). The soundtrack will be released digitally on October 2, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips can be checked out after the jump. Mars & Avril is written and directed by French-Canadian artist and Cirque du Soleil alumnus Martin Villeneuve based on his own graphic novels and stars Caroline Dhavernas, Paul Ahmarani, Robert Lepage and Jacques Languirand. Premiering tonight is the mystery drama 666 Park Avenue created by David Wilcox (Fringe) and starring Rachael Taylor, Dave Annable, Vanessa Williams, Terry O’Quinn, Mercedes Masöhn, Robert Buckley, Helena Mattsson, Erik Palladino and Samantha Logan. Lee Holdridge has recently scored the Lifetime original movie Liz & Dick. The film center on the nearly 25-year relationship between Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, to whom she was married two separate times. Lindsay Lohan is portraying Taylor and Grant Bowler is playing Burton. Creed Bratton co-stars as studio chief Darryl F. Zanuck and Theresa Russell, David Hunt and David Eigenberg are also starring in the film directed by Llyod Kramer (David and Lisa). Christopher Monger (Temple Grandin) has written the script and Larry A. Thompson is executive producing the project. Liz & Dick is set to premiere this November on Lifetime. The full details of the soundtrack album for Disney’s animated feature Wreck-It-Ralph have been announced. The album features the film’s original score composed by Henry Jackman (X-Men: First Class, Puss in Boots), as well as the songs When Can I See You Again? performed by Owl City, Wreck-It, Wreck-It Ralph by Buckner & Garcia, Celebration by Kool & The Gang, Sugar Rush by AKB48 and Shut Up and Drive by Rihanna. Also included is the track Bug Hunt (Noisa Remix) by Skrillex who wrote some of the in-game music for the film. The soundtrack is set to be released on October 30, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Wreck-It-Ralph is directed by Rich Moore and features the voice talent of John C. Zbigniew Preisner has been hired to score the upcoming drama The Green Blade Rises. The film marks the directorial debut of AJ Edwards who worked with Terrence Malick on his past three films and was the editor on his most recent feature To The Wonder. The Green Blade Rises starring Wes Bentley, Brit Marling, Diane Kruger and Jason Clarke follows Abraham Lincoln’s formative years, including abandonment by his father in the harsh winter wilderness, the tragedy that marked him forever and the two women who guided him to immortality, putting him on the path to becoming one of the most influential Presidents in United States history. Edwards also wrote the original screenplay and Terrence Malick is producing the film with Nicolas Gonda (The Tree Of Life) and Charley Beil (To The Wonder). Read the rest of this entry »

The details of the soundtrack album for the sci-fi film Cloud Atlas have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Tom Tykwer, Johnny Klimek and Reinhold Heil. Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the animated feature Hotel Transylvania directed by Genndy Tartakov and featuring the voice talent of Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Selena Gomez, Kevin James, Fran Drescher, Steve Buscemi, Molly Shannon, David Spade, CeeLo Green and Jon Lovitz. The film’s music is composed by Mark Mothersbaugh who previously scored Sony Pictures Animation’s Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. The film’s original song Problem performed by Becky G feat. will.i.am is now available to download on iTunes. Also opening wide is the sci-fi thriller Looper directed by Rian Johnson and starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, Jeff Daniels, Noah Segan and Piper Perabo. The film’s score is composed by Nathan Johnson who previously worked with the director on Brick and The Brothers Bloom. Cut Narrative has released the soundtrack album digitally and limited edition CD version featuring music not included on the digital release is available on La-La Land Records.
