noahDirector Darren Aronofsky announced on Twitter that the Grammy Award-winning string quartet Kronos Quartet is reuniting with composer Clint Mansell to perform on his score for the upcoming biblical epic Noah. They have previously collaborated on the 2006 feature The Fountain, as well as on the director’s second movie Requiem for a DreamNoah stars Russell Crowe in the title role as the man chosen by God for a great task before an apocalyptic flood destroys the world. Jennifer Connelly, Ray Winstone, Emma Watson, Anthony Hopkins, Logan Lerman are co-starring in the film, which will be released nationwide on March 28, 2014 by Paramount Pictures.  Read the rest of this entry »

‘Tarzan’ Soundtrack Details

tarzanMilan Records will release a soundtrack album for the animated feature Tarzan. The album features the film’s original score composed by Academy Award nominee David Newman (Anastasia, Ice AgeSerenity) who previously scored the animated movie Animals United for the filmmakers. Also included is the song Loud Like Love by the British rock band Placebo. The soundtrack will be released overseas on February 17, 2014 and is available as an import here. The album will also be released digitally in the U.S. on May 6 and is available to order on AmazonTarzan based on the classic Edgar Rice Burroughs tale is directed by Reinhard Klooss and features the voices of Kellan Lutz, Spencer Locke, Anton Zetterholm, Mark Deklin, Trevor St. John and Jaime Ray Newman. klondikeAdrian Johnston has composed the music for Discovery Channel’s miniseries Klondike. The six-parter is directed by Simon Cellan Jones and stars Richard Madden, Sam Shepard, Abbie Cornish, Ian Hart, Johnny Simmons, Conor Leslie, Tim Roth, Augustus Prew, Marton Csokas and Tim Blake Nelson. The series is based on Charlotte Gray’s novel Gold Diggers: Striking It Rich in the Klondike and follows six strangers and their collective fight for survival and wealth in a small frontier town in the remote Klondike. Paul Scheuring (Prison Break) is the primary writer and also serves as executive producer, along with Ridley Scott and David W. two-men-in-townEric Neveux has composed the score for the upcoming drama Two Men in Town. The film is directed by Rachid Bouchareb (Days of Glory) and stars Forest Whitaker, Harvey Keitel, Ellen Burstyn, Brenda Blethyn and Luis Guzman. The movie is based on a novel by and follows an ex-convict who gets a second chance, but the local law wants to send him back to prison. Bouchareb has written the screenplay with Olivier Lorelle (Days of Glory) and novelist Yasmina Khadra (The Attack). Jean Brehat (Outside the Law, The Attack) is producing the project with Allen Bain. The movie marks the French composer’s second major English language feature project following Bouchareb’s drama Just Like a Woman starring Sienna Miller, which opened in the U.S. last year. ‘Stalingrad’ Soundtrack Details

The album features the film’s original score composed by Angelo Badalamenti (Twin Peaks, Blue Velvet, Mulholland Drive). The soundtrack will be released digitally and physically on January 28, 2014. Stalingrad is directed by Fedor Bondarchuk and stars Thomas Kretschmann, Petr Fedorov, Sergey Bondarchuk, Mariya Smolnikova and Yanina Studilina. The movie, which has become highest-grossing Russian movie of all time will be released in the U.S. for a one-week exclusive engagement in IMAX 3D on February 28, 2014 by Columbia Pictures. ride-alongExpected to top the weekend box office is the action comedy Ride Along directed by Tim Story and starring Ice Cube, Kevin Hart, John Leguizamo, Bruce McGill, Tika Sumpter, Bryan Callen and Laurence Fishburne. The film’s original music is composed by Christopher Lennertz (Revolution, Horrible Bosses, Identity Thief) who previously scored Story’s Think Like a Man and will also score its sequel. Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music earlier this week and a CD version will be coming out on January 28 by Varese Sarabande. jack-ryanAlso opening wide is the action thriller Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit written and directed by Kenneth Branagh and starring Chris Pine, Keira Knightley, Kevin Costner, as well as Branagh himself. The director’s regular musical collaborator Patrick Doyle (Thor, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Sense and Sensibility) has composed the film’s original score. The movie based on the bestselling book by E.L. James follows the relationship of 27-year-old billionaire Grey and college student Anastasia Steele. Kelly Marcel (Saving Mr. Banks) has adapted the material for the screen.
