Volker Bertelmann (Conclave, All Quiet on the Western Front, Lion, Adrift, Pressure, The Day of the Jackal, A House of Dynamite, The Amateur, One Life) has provided the original score for the upcoming dramatic thriller Bunker. The film is written and directed by Florian Zeller (The Father, The Son) and stars Javier Bardem, Penélope Cruz, Stephen Graham, Paul Dano and Patrick Schwarzenegger. The movie follows an architect who accepts a morally ambiguous project — building a survivalist bunker for a tech billionaire, but his wife begins to question their marriage after almost two decades together. Federica Sainte-Rose is producing the project for Blue Morning Pictures, alongside Fernando Bovaira (The Others, Biutiful) & Simon de Santiago (The Captive, The Summit) for Mod Producciones, as well as Alice Dawson who previously served as a producer on the Bertelmann-scored Conclave. Bunker will premiere this September at the 2026 Venice Film Festival and will be released in U.S. theaters by Sony Pictures Classics.
Also coming up for Bertelmann are Paul Greengrass’ The Uprising (to be released in theaters on September 11), Michael Showalter’s Verity, which will be released in theaters on October 2 and DC Studios’ Clayface, which will open on October 23. He also continues to score HBO’s Dune: Prophecy, which will return for a second season
