Volker Bertelmann (Conclave, All Quiet on the Western Front, Lion, Pressure, Adrift, The Day of the Jackal, The Amateur, A House of Dynamite, One Life) has composed the original score for the upcoming period drama The Uprising. The film is written and directed by Paul Greengrass (The Bourne Supremacy, Captain Phillips) and stars Andrew Garfield, Jamie Bell, Stephen Dillane, Cosmo Jarvis, Tom Hollander, Thomasin McKenzie, Woody Norman, Jonny Lee Miller, Katherine Waterston and Sky Yang. The movie follows the legendary leader of a ferocious rebellion against the tyranny of King Richard II as he forms an army of the people to face the King’s might in a fight for justice and survival. Greengrass is also producing with Jason Blum (Get Out, Halloween), Gregory Goodman (X-Men: First Class, Civil War), Joanna Kaye, Joe Neurauter (All the Boys Love Mandy Lane, The Wackness) and Lars Sylvest (Ferrari, Robots). The Uprising will be released in theaters nationwide on September 11, 2026 by Focus Features.
Bertelmann’s other upcoming feature projects include Markus Goller’s 23 000 Lives, which will premiere this Friday, July 17 on Netflix, Michael Showalter’s Verity, which will be released in theaters on October 2 and DC Studios’ Clayface, which will open on October 23.
