Premiering on Thursday, December 7, is the British limited series Archie written by Jeff Pope and stars Jason Isaacs, Harriet Walter, Dainton Anderson, Laura Aikman, Kara Tointon, Oaklee Pendergast and Calam Lynch. The show’s original music is composed by Lindsay Wright (Without Sin, This Is Joan Collins, The Mystery of D.B Cooper, The Whistleblowers). Silva Screen Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score this past Friday. Check out our soundtrack announcement for the full album details and to learn more about the 4-part drama, which premiered in the UK on ITVX and is making its U.S. debut on BritBox.

Also premiering in the U.S. on Thursday is the British series The Lovers created by David Ireland, directed by Justin Martin and starring Rosin Gallagher, Johnny Flynn, Conleth Hill and Alice Eve. Lindsay Wright & Tawiah (Without Sin, Black Ops) and have composed the show’s original music. The 6-part romantic comedy, which centers on the relationship between a bad-tempered Belfast supermarket worker and a self-centered, political broadcaster with what looks to be a perfect London life and a celebrity girlfriend, premiered in the UK on Sky Atlantic and will make its domestic debut on Sundance Now and AMC+.

The only movie opening nationwide this weekend is Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 directed by James Gunn and starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki and Kurt Russell. The film’s original score is composed by Tyler Bates (300, Watchmen). Hollywood Records has released two soundtrack albums, including the Awesome Mix Vol. 2 featuring the songs from the movie, as well as score album featuring Bates’ music. Opening in limited release is the comedy drama 3 Generations co-written and directed by Gaby Dellal and starring Elle Fanning, Naomi Watts, Susan Sarandon, Sam Trammell, Linda Emond and Tate Donovan. West Dylan Thordson (Split, Foxcatcher) has composed the film’s original score. Michael Brook composed the original version of the film (entitled About Ray), which premiered at the 2015 Toronto Film Festival. ‘The Lovers’ Soundtrack Details

Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for Azazel Jacobs’ indie comedy The Lovers. The album features the film’s original music composed by Mandy Hoffman (Ana Maria in Novela Land) who previously scored the director’s Terri. The soundtrack will be released digitally next month and is set for a physical release on June 2, 2017. Visit Amazon to pre-order the CD. The Lovers is written and directed by Jacobs and stars Debra Winger, Tracy Letts, Aidan Gillen, Melora Walters, Tyler Ross and Jessica Sula. The movie follows a chronically cheating married couple whose relationship has gone bitterly bad. When they decide to sit down and get divorced, the two find themselves suddenly falling in love again.

Mandy Hoffman to Score Azazel Jacobs’ ‘The Lovers’

Mandy Hoffman is reteaming with director Azazel Jacobs on the upcoming indie comedy The Lovers. The film is written and directed by Jacobs and stars Debra Winger, Tracy Letts, Aidan Gillen, Melora Walters, Tyler Ross and Jessica Sula. The movie follows a long-married couple whose romantic spark dwindles in the midst of their respective affair. However, when they sit down to call it quits, they find themselves suddenly and unexpectedly falling back in love again. Ben LeClair (Upstream Color, Year of the Dog) and Chris Stinson are producing the project. Hoffman has previously collaborated with Jacobs on all of his previous movie, most notable the 2011 feature Terri starring John C. Reilly.

‘The Lovers’ Soundtrack Released

Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album for the romantic adventure drama The Lovers. The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by Dirk Brosse (Paradise’s End). The soundtrack is now available to order on Varese’s official website, where you can also listen to audio samples. The Lovers is directed by Roland Joffe and stars Josh Hartnett, Tamsin Egerton, Alice Englert and Claire van der Boom. The movie follows a marine archaeologist who is left brain dead after a dangerous dive to save his wife while exploring an 18th century merchant ship wreckage.

Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Guaranteed to top the weekend box office is Disney’s live-action adaptation of Cinderella directed by Kenneth Branagh and starring Lily James, Cate Blanchett, Richard Madden, Stellan Skarsgard, Holliday Grainger, Sophie McShera, Derek Jacobi and Helena Bonham-Carter. The film’s original music is composed by Patrick Doyle (Sense and Sensibility, Thor, Rise of the Planet of the Apes). Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well the film’s songs including the original end titles track Strong written by Doyle, Branagh & Tommy Danvers and performed by Sonna Rele. Playing in front of Cinderella is Disney’s new animated short Frozen Fever directed by Jennifer Lee & Chris Buck and featuring the voices of Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad. Christophe Beck (Edge of Tomorrow, The Muppets, The Hangover) who scored 2013’s feature has also composed the score for the short film, while Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Bobby Lopez have contributed a new original song.
