Caldera Records has announced the world premiere soundtrack release for the HBO original documentary series The Jinx directed by Andrew Jarecki about real-estate scion and convicted murderer Robert Durst who managed to evade justice for over three decades. The album features selections of the original score from the show’s first season (released in 2015 and subtitled The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst) composed by West Dylan Thordson (Split, Glass, Foxcatcher, Unsolved Mysteries, Joy) and second season (released earlier this year under the title The Jinx: Part Two) composed by Mondo Boys (She Dies Tomorrow, Phoenix Forgotten, Fatman, The Girlfriend Experience, Silk Road). West Dylan Thordson & Kat Vokes Scoring Matty Brown’s ‘The Sand Castle’
West Dylan Thordson (Split, Glass, Unsolved Mysteries, Foxcatcher, Joy) has teamed up with Kat Vokes to score the upcoming Netflix original film The Sand Castle. The movie is directed by Matty Brown and stars Nadine Labaki, Zain & Reman Al Rafeea and Ziad Bakri. The thriller revolves around an Arabic family of four who get stuck on a seemingly idyllic island, where they begin to uncover dark secrets that they struggle to keep from their youngest. Brown also co-wrote the screenplay with Yassmina Karajah and Hend Fakhroo.

Premiering tonight is the Showtime docu-series Outcry directed by Pat Kondelis. The show’s original music is composed by Hanan Townshend (Knights of Cup, To the Wonder, Semper Fi, The Vessel). The 5-parter examines the story of high school football star Greg Kelley who was arrested, convicted and jailed for sexual assault of a 4-year-old boy, and his supporters’ quest for truth and justice. Premiering on Wednesday, July 8 is the Australian limited series Stateless created by Cate Blanchett, Elise McCredie & Tony Ayres and starring Blanchett, Yvonne Strahovski, Dominic West and Jai Courtney. Cornel Wilczek (Glitch, These Final Hours, Nowhere Boys) has composed the show’s original music. The drama follows four strangers as they intersect at an Australian immigration detention center. The series premiered earlier this year in Australia on ABC and is making its U.S. debut on Netflix.
West Dylan Thordson Scoring Netflix’s ‘Unsolved Mysteries’ Reboot
West Dylan Thordson (Split, Glass, Foxcatcher, Joy) has composed the original music for Netflix’s new reboot of the docu-series Unsolved Mysteries. The modern take on the classic series is rooted in the experiences of ordinary people who have lived the unthinkable – from the trauma of a loved one’s unexplained disappearance or horrific death, to the shock of a bizarre paranormal encounter. Each episode will focus on one mystery and once again will look to viewers to help aid investigators in closing the book on long outstanding cases.

Already playing in theaters nationwide since this past Wednesday is the Japanese anime movie Dragon Ball Super: Broly directed by Tatsuya Nagamine and written by Akira Toriyama. Norihito Sumitomo (Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods & Resurrection ‘F’) has composed the film’s original music. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score has been released in Japan. Daichi Miura has contributed the film’s theme song Blizzard. The movie is being released in the U.S. by FUNimation.
‘Glass’ Soundtrack Details
Back Lot Music will release the official soundtrack album for M. Night Shyamalan’s Glass. The album features the film’s original music composed by West Dylan Thordson (Split, Joy, 3 Generations) who incorporated some of James Newton Howard’s themes from 2000’s Unbreakable into his score. The soundtrack will be released digitally next Friday, January 18 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. M. Night Shyamalan has confirmed on Twitter that West Dylan Thordson is currently scoring the upcoming superhero thriller Glass. The film is written and directed by Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense, Signs, The Village) and stars Bruce Willis as David Dunn, Samuel L. Jackson as Elijah Price (aka Mr. Glass), James McAvoy as Kevin Wendell Crumb, as well as Anya Taylor-Joy, Spencer Treat Clark, Charlayne Woodard and Sarah Paulson. The movie brings together the narratives of Shyamalan’s 2000 feature Unbreakable (scored by James Newton Howard) and last year’s Split (scored by Thordson).
‘3 Generations’ Soundtrack Announced
Lakeshore Records has announced the official soundtrack album for the comedy drama 3 Generations. The album features the film’s original score composed by West Dylan Thordson (Split, Foxcatcher, The Jinx). Also included is the original song Fit In written and performed by KT Tunstall, which is already available as a digital single. The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, May 12 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. 3 Generations is co-written and directed by Gaby Dellal and stars Elle Fanning, Naomi Watts, Susan Sarandon, Sam Trammell, Linda Emond and Tate Donovan. The movie follows a New York teenager seeking to transition from female to male and the relationship with her single mother who is coming to terms with having to raise her only daughter as a son.

The only movie opening nationwide this weekend is Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 directed by James Gunn and starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki and Kurt Russell. The film’s original score is composed by Tyler Bates (300, Watchmen). Hollywood Records has released two soundtrack albums, including the Awesome Mix Vol. 2 featuring the songs from the movie, as well as score album featuring Bates’ music.
