Sion Trefor (Say Nothing, Legends, Toxic Town, How to Get to Heaven from Belfast, Death Valley, Waiting for the Out) has teamed up with Ioana Șelaru and Galia Arad to score the upcoming Irish indie drama Lemonade. The film marks the narrative feature directorial debut of documentary filmmaker Kim Bartley (Pure Grit) and stars Lewis Brophy, Barry Keoghan, Carla Tous, Eileen Walsh and Imelda May. The movie is set amid Ireland’s care system and follows a teenager who unexpectedly reconnects with a social worker who once tried to help him but whose own mistakes drove them apart as he becomes both his mentor and mirror. Rachel Lysaght (Traders, Hostage to the Devil) and Farah Abushwesha (Irreplaceable You, The Last Photograph) are producing the Underground Films and Rocliffe production. No word yet on a premiere or release date for Lemonade.(Variety)
Trefor & Selaru have previously co-scored Marc Evans’ Effi o Blaenau, which opened in UK theaters last month. A soundtrack album has been released by Born Rare Records.
