Junkie XL to Score ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters’

UPDATE: Director Michael Dougherty mentioned on Twitter that Junkie XL is not scoring the film and GQ Magazine’s article is incorrect.

According to a recent article in GQ, Junkie XL (aka Tom Holkenborg) will be scoring the upcoming monster movie Godzilla: King of the Monsters. The film is directed by Michael Dougherty (Krampus, Trick ‘r Treat) and stars Millie Bobby Brown, Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Ken Watanabe, O’Shea Jackson Jr. and Aisha Hinds. No plot details have been announced yet. Dougherty is writing the screenplay with Zach Shields (Krampus). Thomas Tull & Jon Jashni are producing the Legendary Entertainment production with Mary Parent (The Revenant, Pacific Rim) and Brian Rogers. Holkenborg has previously scored Legendary’s 300: Rise of the Empire and last year’s Spectral.

‘Krampus’ Soundtrack Announced

Back Lot Music will release a soundtrack album for the horror comedy Krampus. The album features the film’s original music composed by Douglas Pipes (Monster House, Trick ‘r Treat), as well as bonus track of the popular tune Carol of the Bells, rewritten and retitled Krampus Karol of the Bells. The soundtrack will be released digitally on December 4, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. Waxwork Records will be distributing a vinyl version. Krampus is written and directed by Michael Dougherty and stars Adam Scott, Toni Collette, David Koechner, Emjay Anthony, Allison Tolman, Conchata Ferrell, Stefania Lavie Owen and Krista Stadler. The movie follows a young boy and his family who accidentally unleash the wrath of Krampus — an ancient entity from European folklore — and causes beloved holiday icons take on a monstrous life of their own.

Legendary Pictures has announced that Douglas Pipes is set to score the upcoming horror comedy Krampus. The film is directed by Michael Dougherty (writer of X2 & Superman Returns) and stars Adam Scott, Toni Collette, Allison Tolman, David Koechner, Conchata Ferrell, Emjay Anthony, Stefania Owen and Krista Stadler. The movie follows a young boy who turns his back on Christmas as his dysfunctional family comes together and clashes over the holidays. When they accidentally unleash the wrath of Krampus — an ancient entity from European folklore — beloved holiday icons take on a monstrous life of their own. Dougherty has also co-written the screenplay with Zach Shields and Todd Casey (Thundercats) and is also producing the project with Legendary’s Thomas Tull & Jon Jashni (Godzilla, Pacific Rim, 300: Rise of an Empire) and Alex Garcia.
