Premiering on Friday, December 29, is the new season of the sci-fi anthology series Black Mirror created by Charlie Brooker. Episodes of the fourth season include USS Callister (featuring music by Daniel Pemberton), Arkangel directed by Jodie Foster (scored by Mark Isham), Crocodile directed by John Hillcoat (featuring music by Atticus Ross, Leopold Ross & Claudia Sarne) and Black Museum (scored by Cristobal Tapia de Veer). The full season will be available to stream on Friday on Netflix.

Dominic Frontiere has passed away this past Thursday at age 86 in Tesuque, New Mexico. The composer has composed the scores to numerous movies over a five decade-spanning career, including 1980’s The Stunt Man, for which he received a Golden Globe Award, as well as 1994’s Color of Night, for which he also co-wrote the Golden Globe-nominated song The Color of the Night. Showtime’s ‘The Chi’ to Feature Music by Patrick Warren

Patrick Warren is composing the original score for the new Showtime original series The Chi. The show is created by Lena Waithe (Dear White People) and stars Jason Mitchell, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Jacob Latimore, Alex Hibbert, Yolonda Ross, Tiffany Boone and Armando Riesco. The coming-of-age drama is set on the South Side of Chicago and follows a group of residents who become linked by coincidence. Waithe is also executive producing the project with Common, Aaron Kaplan (Life in Pieces, Divorce), Elwood Reid (The Bridge) and Rick Famuyiwa (Dope, The Wood) who also directed the pilot episode. The film’s original music is composed by Henry Jackman (Captain America: The Winter Soldier & Civil War, Big Hero 6, Kong: Skull Island, Wreck-It-Ralph, X-Men: First Class). Deutsche Grammophon has released the original song How Shall a Sparrow Fly from Scott Cooper’s western Hostiles. The track is written and performed by Ryan Bingham who previously co-wrote the Academy Award-winning song The Weary Kind from Cooper’s Crazy Heart. The song is now available as a digital single (visit Amazon to download) and will be also be included on the official soundtrack album for the film coming out next month.
