Christopher Young (Spider-Man 3, Hellraiser, Ghost Rider, Entrapment, The Grudge) has been tapped to score the upcoming new film adaptation of Stephen King’s Pet Sematary. The film is directed by Kevin Kölsch & Dennis Widmyer (Starry Eyes) and stars Jason Clarke, Amy Seimetz, John Lithgow, Jeté Laurence and Hugo & Lucas Lavoie. The movie follows a young family who, after moving to a rural home, discover they are living next to a creepy pet cemetery endowed with powers to reanimate whatever is buried on its grounds. Jeff Buhler (Nightflyers, Jacob’s Ladder) wrote the screenplay. Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers, The Meg, RED) and Mark Vahradian (RED, Deepwater Horizon) are producing the project. Elliot Goldenthal has previously scored the original 1989 film adaptation of Stephen King’s novel. Pet Sematary is set to be released on April 5, 2019 by Paramount Pictures.

As previously reported, Young has also recently scored the supernatural thriller The Empty Man starring James Badge Dale and Aaron Poole. A release in 2019 is expected.

Hopefully this won’t be uncomfortably close to “The Amityville Horror.”
