Pixar producer Mary Alice Drumm announced at Disney/Pixar’s presentation at the Annecy International Film Festival today that Nami Melumad (Star Trek: Strange New Worlds & ProdigyThor: Love and Thunder, An American Pickle, Absentia, One Fast MoveThe Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window).is scoring the studio’s upcoming short Loving Dory. Thomas Newman (who scored both the original 2003 Finding Nemo and its 2016 sequel Finding Dory, as well as Pixar’s Wall-E and Elemental) is is executive producing the score for the film, which is directed by Lou Hamou-Lhadj (Borrowed Time, Win or Lose) and stars Ellen DeGeneres who returns to voice the title character who falls in love with a plastic bag floating through the sea that she mistakes for a jellyfish. Melumad has previously scored Pixar’s Disney+ series Dream Productions. Loving Dory is expected to be released in theaters next year attached to one of Pixar’s 2027 features.

Melumad also continues to score Paramount+’s Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, which will return for its fourth season on July 23.
