Sony Masterworks has released two soundtrack albums for the Netflix limited series Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. The first album features selections of the show’s original score composed by Emmy Award nominee Kris Bowers (Bridgerton, King Richard, Dear White People, Green Book, Space Jam: A New Legacy, When They See Us). The second album features the instrumental covers of hit songs from the show, as well as Alicia Keys’ new version of If I Ain’t Got You (recorded with an 70-piece orchestra). Premiering today is the Paramount+ original series Fatal Attraction developed by Alexandra Cunningham and starring Joshua Jackson, Lizzy Caplan, Amanda Peet, Toby Huss, Brian Goodman, Alyssa Jirrels and Reno Wilson. The show’s original music is composed by Craig DeLeon (The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey, Velma, End of the Road, Music, The Last Survivors). The thriller, which is based on Adrian Lyne’s 80s hit movie of the same title, will be available to stream exclusively on Paramount+.
Also premiering today is the British limited series Tom Jones written by Gwyneth Hughes based on Henry Fielding’s novel The History of Tom Jones, A Foundling and starring Solly McLeod, Sophie Wilde, Hannah Waddingham, Shirley Henderson, James Fleet, Felicity Montagu, Alun Armstrong, James Wilbraham, Pearl Mackie and Tamzin Merchant. Matthew Slater (Grace, Endeavour) has composed the show’s original music. Kris Bowers Scoring Netflix’s ‘Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story’
Kris Bowers (King Richard, Green Book, Dear White People, Space Jam: A New Legacy, Mrs. America) has composed the original score for the new Netflix limited series Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. The Bridgerton prequel is created by Shonda Rhimes (Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal) and stars Golda Rosheuvel, India Amarteifio, Adjoa Andoh, Michelle Fairley, Ruth Gemmell, Arsema Thomas, Corey, Mylchreest, Sam Clemmett, Hugh Sachs, Freddie Dennis and Julie Andrews. The series, which also features Bridgerton-style orchestral versions of hit songs (by Alicia Keys, Beyoncé, among others) from the last decades, revolves around the title character whose marriage to King George of England sparks a love story and transforms high society.
Weekly Film Music Roundup (April 21, 2023)
Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the supernatural horror movie Evil Dead Rise written and directed by Lee Cronin and starring Lily Sullivan, Alyssa Sutherland, Morgan Davies, Gabrielle Echols and Nell Fisher. The film’s original music is composed by Stephen McKeon (The Hole in the Ground, Pilgrimage, Queen & Country, Norm of the North, Rose Plays Julie). WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score last Friday. Also opening wide is the the action thriller Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant co-written and directed by Ritchie and starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Dar Salim, Alexander Ludwig, Antony Starr, Emily Beecham, Bobby Schofield and Jonny Lee Miller. Chris Benstead (The Gentlemen, Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerre, Wrath of Man) has composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album has been announced. ‘Chevalier’ Soundtrack Album Details
The full details of the soundtrack album for the biographical drama Chevalier have been revealed. The album features the film’s original score composed by Kris Bowers (King Richard, Green Book, Bridgerton, Dear White People, Space Jam: A New Legacy, When They See Us). Also included are several pieces by the titular composer Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges, as well as tracks by Michael Abels (Us, Get Out, Nope) who was responsible for the movie’s on-screen musical performances and also created original works inspired by Chevalier’s remaining compositions. The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, April 21 by Hollywood Records (click here to stream/download). The first track on the album (Violin Concerto in G Major, Op. 8, No. 2: I. Allegro) is already available now. A vinyl edition will be coming out this summer and is available for pre-order on Amazon.

Allegro written by Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges, arranged by the film’s composer Kris Bowers (Bridgerton, King Richard, Green Book) and performed by Bowers, the London Contemporary Orchestra and violinist Randall Goosby. Kris Bowers (Bridgerton, King Richard, Green Book, Space Jam: A New Legacy, Dear White People) has recently been recording his underscore for the upcoming film adaptation of the stage musical The Color Purple. The movie is directed by Blitz Bazawule (The Burial of Kojo, Black Is King) and stars Fantasia, Taraji P. Henson, Colman Domingo, Corey Hawkins, H.E.R., Danielle Brooks, Ciara, Halle Bailey, Aunjanue Ellis, Elizabeth Marvel, Jon Batiste Louis Gossett Jr., Tamela J. Mann, David Alan Grier, Deon Cole and Stephen Hill. The period drama tells the story of a Black Southern woman who struggles to find her identity after suffering abuse from her father and others over the course of four decades.

Kris Bowers (Bridgerton, Green Book, King Richard, Mrs. America, Space Jam: A New Legacy, When They See Us, Dear White People) has recently been scoring Marvel Studios’ upcoming Disney+ limited series Secret Invasion. The show is developed by Kyle Bradstreet (Mr. Robot) based on the Marvel Comics storyline of the same title and stars Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn as the Skrull Talos, as well as Kingsley Ben-Adir, Emilia Clarke and Olivia Colman. The 6-part crossover event series directed by Thomas Bezucha (Let Him Go, The Family Stone) & Ali Selim showcases a faction of shape-shifting Skrulls who have been infiltrating Earth for years.

The film is directed by Stephen Williams (Watchmen, True Story) and stars Kelvin Harrison Jr., Samara Weaving, Lucy Boynton and Minnie Driver. The movie tells the true story of composer Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges, the illegitimate son of an African slave and a French plantation owner who rose to heights in the 18th century French society.
‘We Own This City’ Soundtrack Release Announced
WaterTower Music has announced a soundtrack release for the HBO limited series We Own This City. The digital single includes the show’s main title and end title theme by Emmy Award nominee Kris Bowers (Bridgerton, Mrs. America, Green Book, Space Jam: A New Legacy, Inventing Anna, Dear White People, When They See Us).
