Premiering in the U.S. today is the Norwegian mini-series Atlantic Crossing written by Alexander Eik & Linda May Kallestein, directed by Eik and starring Sofia Helin, Kyle MacLachlan and Tobias Santelmann. The show’s original music is composed by Raymond Enoksen (Haunted, Ice Road Rescue). Dreamscore Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score last year when the 8-part drama premiered overseas. Also premiering tonight is the Fox TV special Malika the Lion Queen directed by Karin Slater and narrated by Angela Bassett. Jasha Klebe (Planet Earth II, The Black Godfather, Winter on Fire: Ukraine’s Fight for Freedom, Medal of Honor, Challenger Disaster: Lost Tapes) has composed the original music for the special. The documentary, which follows a powerful pride of lions in South Africa’s Kruger National Park and explores the exhilarating and harrowing life of lioness Malika, will air on Fox tonight. Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Expected to top the weekend box office is the animated sequel The Secret Life of Pets 2 directed by Chris Renaud and starring Kevin Hart, Patton Oswalt, Lake Bell, Hannibal Buress, Harrison Ford and Tiffany Haddish. The film’s original music is composed by Alexandre Desplat (The Shape of Water, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The King’s Speech). Premiering in the U.S. this Thursday, November 8, is the British mini-series The Cry directed by Glendyn Ivin and starring Jenna Coleman, Ewen Leslie, Stella Gonet, Sophie Kennedy Clark, Asher Keddie and Alex Dimitriades. Lorne Balfe (Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Home, The Lego Batman Movie, The Crown, Genius) has composed the original music for the 4-part series. The drama premiered a couple of weeks ago in the UK on BBC and will make its U.S. debut on Sundance Now.

Premiering on Friday, November 9, is the Netflix docu-series Medal of Honor executive produced by James Moll, Robert Zemeckis, Jack Rapke, Jacqueline Levine and Brandon Birtell. The show’s original music is composed by Jasha Klebe (Planet Earth II, Diana: In Her Own Words). The series, which tells the true stories of eight recipients of the nation’s highest and most prestigious award: the Medal of Honor, will be available to stream exclusively on Netflix.

BBC America announced today that Hans Zimmer, Jacob Shea and Jasha Klebe are scoring the upcoming BBC docu-series Blue Planet II for Bleeding Fingers Music. The 7-part series is presented and narrated by Sir David Attenborough and will immerse audiences in the world’s oceans, which are still the most expansive but least known parts of our planet. The show is produced by BBC Studios Natural History Unit, BBC America, WDR and France Télévisions in partnership with The Open University.

Premiering on Tuesday, February 14, is the Netflix original movie Girlfriend’s Day directed by Michael Stephenson and starring Bob Odenkirk, Amber Tamblyn, Natasha Lyonne. The film’s original music is composed by Bobby Tahouri (Husk, Across the Hall, Rise of the Tomb Raider video game). Girlfriend’s Day follows an unemployed greeting card writer must who gets caught up in a conspiracy and must create the perfect card for a new holiday to save his skin. The comedy will be available to stream on Netflix on Tuesday.

Premiering in the U.S. on Saturday, February 18, is the BBC Earth documentary series Planet Earth narrated by David Attenborough, executive produced by Michael Gunton and produced by Tom Hugh-Jones. Hans Zimmer (Gladiator, The Dark Knight, The Lion King, Inception) has composed the show’s main theme. Jacob Shea (Through the Wormhole) and Jasha Klebe (Winter on Fire: Ukraine’s Fight for Freedom) have written the score for Bleeding Fingers Music. ‘Planet Earth II’ Soundtrack Details

Silva Screen Records will release a soundtrack album for the BBC Earth documentary series Planet Earth. The album features the show’s main theme composed by Hans Zimmer (Gladiator, The Dark Knight, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Lion King, Inception, Interstellar), as well as the series’ original music written by Jacob Shea (Through the Wormhole, Sparks) and Jasha Klebe (Winter on Fire: Ukraine’s Fight for Freedom) for Bleeding Fingers Music. The soundtrack will be released on November 11, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. Planet Earth II is narrated by David Attenborough, executive produced by Michael Gunton (Hidden Kingdoms, Life), produced by Tom Hugh-Jones (Planet Life) and explores the unique characteristics of Earth’s most iconic habitats and the extraordinary ways animals survive within them.

BBC Earth has announced that Hans Zimmer is composing the music for the upcoming docu-series Planet Earth II. He is composing the show’s theme and main titles. Jasha Klebe who previously scored last year’s Oscar-nominated documentary Winter on Fire and Jacob Shea who is known for his music for the Morgan Freeman-hosted series Through the Wormhole are also involved in scoring the show courtesy of the music production house Bleeding Fingers Custom Music Shop (Saints & Strangers, Sons of Liberty). The series is narrated by David Attenborough, executive produced by Michael Gunton (Hidden Kingdoms, Life, Africa) and produced by Tom Hugh-Jones (Planet Life). The 6-parter explores the unique characteristics of Earth’s most iconic habitats and the extraordinary ways animals survive within them.

‘Winter on Fire’ Soundtrack Announced

Lakeshore Records has announced a soundtrack album for the Netflix original documentary Winter on Fire: Ukraine’s Fight for Freedom. The album features the film’s original music composed by Jasha Klebe. The soundtrack will be released digitally on December 11, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A physical release is set for February 12, 2016. Winter on Fire is directed by Evgeny Afineevsky and covers the unrest in Ukraine over 93 days in 2013 and 2014, as student demonstrations supporting European integration grew into a violent revolution calling for the resignation of President Viktor F. Yanukovich. The documentary premiered at this year’s Venice Film Festival and is now streaming on Netflix.
