Composer Emile Mosseri (Minari, The Last Black Man in San Francisco, How to Make a Killing, Kajillionaire, Homecoming, Preparation for the Next Life) is reuniting with actor/writer/director Jesse Eisenberg (A Real Pain) on the upcoming musical comedy The Debut. The film is written and directed by Eisenberg and stars Julianne Moore, Paul Giamatti, Halle Bailey, Eisenberg himself, Craig Bierko, Cara Buono, Eldar Isgandarov and Bernadette Peters. As previously reported, Eisenberg has also written all original songs for the movie, which follows a shy, unassuming housewife performing a bit part at a small community theater as she transforms into a zealous method actor willing to do anything to protect the artistic integrity of her marginal role.

The movie is based on the book of the same name by Atticus Lish and follows a Uyghur woman trained by her military father who migrates to New York City, where she finds herself laboring in Chinatown’s underground kitchens and falls in love with a young American soldier who has just returned from three tours in the Middle East.

Emile Mosseri (Minari, The Last Black Man in San Francisco, Homecoming, Kajillionaire, When You Finish Saving the World) has signed on to score the upcoming Amazon original series Mr. and Mrs. Smith. The show is created by Donald Glover (Atlanta), Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag) & Francesca Sloane and stars Glover himself, Maya Erskine, Parker Posey and Wagner Moura. The spy comedy is based on Doug Liman’s 2005 feature of the same title (scored by John Powell) about two rival spies who discover they have been contracted to assassinate each other.
