Harry Escott is reuniting with director Michael Winterbottom on the upcoming drama The Wedding Guest. The film is written and directed by Winterbottom (Wonderland, The Claim) and stars Dev Patel, Sidhu Manpreet, Nish Nathwani, Radhika Apte and Jim Sarbh. The movie follows a mysterious, young British man on his journey across Pakistan and India. Melissa Parmenter is producing the project with Deepak Nayar (Lost Highway, Bend It Like Beckham).

Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the action thriller sequel The Equalizer 2 directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal, Ashton Sanders, Bill Pullman and Melissa Leo. Harry Gregson-Williams (The Martian, The Chronicles of Narnia, Shrek, Unstoppable, Man on Fire) who previously scored the 2014 original movie has composed the film’s original score. Also opening wide is the movie musical Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again directed by Ol Parker and starring Lily James, Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgård, Julie Walters, Dominic Cooper, Amanda Seyfried, Christine Barankski, Jeremy Irvine, Jessica Keenan Wynn Andy Garcia and Cher. Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the thriller Sicario: Day of the Soldado directed by Stefano Sollima and starring Benicio Del Toro, Josh Brolin, Isabela Moner, Jeffrey Donovan, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo and Catherine Keener. The film’s original is composed by Hildur Gudnadottir (Mary Magdalene, Strong Island, The Oath). Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Also opening wide is the comedy Uncle Drew directed by Charles Stone III and starring Kyrie Irving, Lil Rel Howery, Shaquille O’Neal, Reggie Miller, Nate Robinson, Chris Webber, Erica Ash, Lisa Leslie, Tiffany Haddish and Nick Kroll. Christopher Lennertz (Lost in Space, Ride Along, Horrible Bosses, Sausage Party) has composed the film’s original score. Premiering tonight in the U.S. is Fox Networks Group Europe & Africa’s first original series Deep State created by Matthew Parkhill & Simon Maxwell and starring Mark Strong, Karima McAdams, Joe Dempsie, Lyne Renée, Alistair Petrie, Anastasia Griffith, Amelia Bullmore, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Pip Torrens and Fares Fares. The show’s original music is composed by Harry Escott (Shame, Hard Candy, Welcome to the Punch). Premiering in the U.S. on February 20 is the British crime drama The Frankenstein Chronicles created by Benjamin Ross & Barry Langford and starring Sean Bean, Tom Ward, Richie Campbell, Vanessa Kirby, Ed Stoppard and Ryan Sampson. Roger Goula (Next Goal Wins, Identicals) and Harry Escott (Shame, Hard Candy, Welcome to the Punch) have composed the show’s original music. The series’ first season premiered in the UK in 2015 and the second season last year on ITV. Both seasons of the drama will be available to stream in the U.S. on Netflix.
Harry Escott Scoring ‘Deep State’
Harry Escott is composing the score for Fox Networks Group Europe & Africa’s first original series Deep State. The show is created by Matthew Parkhill (Rogue) & Simon Maxwell (Killing Bono) and stars Mark Strong as a retired Secret Service operative and member of elite British/America team called The Section who is coaxed back into the field to try to shut down an Iranian missile program. Karima McAdams, Joe Dempsie, Lyne Renée, Alistair Petrie, Anastasia Griffith, Amelia Bullmore, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Pip Torrens and Fares Fares are co-starring.
Harry Escott Scoring ‘Dark River’ and ‘Journeyman’
Harry Escott is scoring the upcoming British thriller Dark River. The film is written and directed by Clio Barnard and stars Ruth Wilson, Sean Bean and Mark Stanley. The movie follows a woman who returns to her home village for the first time time in 15 years after the death of her father, to claim the tenancy to the family farm she believes is rightfully hers. Tracy O’Riordan is producing the Film4, Left Bank Pictures and Moonspun Films production. Escott has previously collaborated with Barnard on her previous two features, The Selfish Giant and The Arbor. Dark River is expected to be released in the UK in 2017.
Weekly TV Music Roundup (November 15, 2015)
Premiering tonight is the AMC original series Into the Badlands created by Alfred Gough & Miles Millar and starring Daniel Wu, Marton Csokas, Aramis Knight, Emily Beecham, Sarah Bolger and Orla Brady. The show’s original music is composed by David Shephard (Longmire). Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda has written the drama’s title theme. Premiering on Tuesday, November 17, is the new NBC drama Chicago Med created by Michael Brandt & Derek Haas and starring Oliver Platt, S. Epatha Merkerson, Nick Gehlfuss, Yaya DaCosta, Colin Donnell, Torrey DeVitto and Rachel DiPillo. Atli Orvarsson (Vantage Point, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones) who is also scoring NBC’s Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D. is composing the show’s original music. Harry Escott Scoring ‘Damascus Cover’
Harry Escott has recently recorded his music for the upcoming British spy thriller Damascus Cover. The film is directed by Daniel Zelik Berk and stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Olivia Thirlby, John Hurt, Igal Naor, Jurgen Prochnow and Navid Negahban. The movie is based on Howard Kaplan’s best-selling 1977 novel and follows a spy who navigates the precarious terrain of love and survival during an undercover mission in Syria. Berk has also co-written the screenplay with Samantha Newton. Hannah Leader & Huw Jones are producing the project for Big Book Media, alongside Joe Thomas (The Man Who Knew Infinity).
BBC’s ‘River’ Soundtrack Announced
Silva Screen Records will release a soundtrack album for the BBC series River. The album features selections from the show’s original music composed by Harry Escott (Shame, Hard Candy, A Mighty Heart, Welcome to the Punch). Also included is the song I Love to Love performed by Tina Charles. The soundtrack will be released overseas on November 13, 2015 and in the U.S. on December 4. River is written and created by Abi Morgan (Shame, Suffragette) and stars Stellan Skarsgård, Nicola Walker, Adeel Akhtar, Lesley Manville, Eddie Marsan, Sorcha Cusack and Georgina Rich.
