Opening in select theaters today is the documentary Rebuilding Paradise directed by Ron Howard. The film’s original music is composed by Hans Zimmer (The Dark Knight, Gladiator, The Lion King, Inception) & Lorne Balfe (Mission: Impossible – Fallout, The LEGO Batman Movie, Bad Boys for Life). A soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score for the movie, which also features Pearl Jam’s River Cross as its end credits song, will be announced soon. Check out our previous article for more information about the movie, which premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and is being released by National Geographic Films/Abramorama.

Opening on VOD today is the romantic drama The Secret: Dare to Dream directed by Andy Tennant and starring Katie Holmes, Josh Lucas, Celia Weston and Jerry O’Connell. George Fenton (The Blue Planet, Hitch, Groundhog Day, Dangerous Liaisons, Anna and the King) has composed the film’s original music. Lightning Glasses and Tone Tree Music have released the original song Waiting written and performed by Striking Matches today. The only movie opening nationwide this weekend is the Fast & Furious spin-off Hobbs & Shaw directed by David Leitch and starring Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Idris Elba, Vanessa Kirby and Helen Mirren. The film’s original score is composed by Tyler Bates (Guardians of the Galaxy, Deadpool 2, John Wick, 300). Opening in limited release is the psychological thriller Luce directed by Julius Onah and starring Kelvin Harrison Jr., Naomi Watts, Octavia Spencer and Tim Roth. Ben Salisbury & Geoff Barrow (Annihilation, Ex Machina, Hanna, Free Fire) have composed the film’s original score. Lakeshore Records & Invada Records have released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score. Garth Stevenson Scoring ‘Them That Follow’

Garth Stevenson revealed in a recent interview with Film Music Magazine that he is currently scoring the upcoming dramatic thriller Them That Follow. The film is written and directed by Brittany Poulton & Daniel Savage and stars Olivia Colman, Alice Englert, Thomas Mann, Kaitlyn Dever, Jim Gaffigan and Walton Goggins. The movie is set deep in the wilds of Appalachia, where believers handle poisonous snakes to prove their righteousness before God. Gerard Butler, Alan Siegel (Olympus/London Has Fallen, Den of Thieves) and Danielle Robinson are producing the project for G-BASE, alongside Bradley Gallo & Michael Helfant (The Call, Mr. Right) for Amasia.

Four new movies are opening in theaters nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the horror thriller A Quiet Place directed by John Krasinski and starring Krasinski himself, Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe. The film’s original music is composed by Marco Beltrami (3:10 to Yuma, Logan, Scream, World War Z, The Hurt Locker, The Wolverine). Also opening wide is the comedy Blockers directed by Kay Cannon and starring Leslie Mann, Ike Barinholtz, John Cena, Kathryn Newton, Geraldine Indira Viswanathan and Gideon Adlan. Mateo Messina (Juno, Casual, Superstore, Butter, Barely Lethal) has composed the film’s original score. No soundtrack album has been announced. ‘Chappaquiddick’ Soundtrack Details

Varese Sarabande will release a soundtrack album for the drama Chappaquiddick. The album features the film’s original music composed by Garth Stevenson (Tracks, Ten Thousand Saints). The soundtrack will be released digitally and physically on April 6, 2018 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Chappaquiddick is directed by John Curran and stars Jason Clarke, Kate Mara, Ed Helms, Jim Gaffigan, Clancy Brown, Taylor Nichols, Olivia Thirlby and Bruce Dern. The movie revolves around the scandal and mysterious events surrounding the tragic drowning of a young woman, as Ted Kennedy drove his car off the infamous bridge. The drama premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival and will be released in select theaters on April 6 by Entertainment Studios.

Garth Stevenson Scoring John Curran’s ‘Chappaquiddick’

Garth Stevenson is reteaming with director John Curran (The Painted Veil, Stone) on the upcoming historical drama Chappaquiddick. The film stars Jason Clarke, Kate Mara, Ed Helms, Bruce Dern, Jim Gaffigan, Olivia Thirlby, Clancy Brown and Taylor Nichols. The movie examines the infamous 1969 incident when Senator Ted Kennedy accidentally drove off a bridge, resulting in the death of campaign worker Mary Jo Kopechner. Taylor Allen and Andrew Logan wrote the screenplay. Mark Ciardi, Campbell McInnes (The Rookie, Miracle, McFarland, USA) and Chris Cowles (The Vatican Tapes) are producing the project.

‘Ten Thousand Saints’ Soundtrack Released

Nettwerk has released a soundtrack album for the coming-of-age drama Ten Thousand Saints. The album features the film’s original music composed by Garth Stevenson (Tracks). Also included are two original songs written by Anna Waronker and Steven McDonald, as well as a cover of the Minor Threat’s Straight Edge. The soundtrack is now available to order on Amazon. Ten Thousand Saints is written and directed by Shari Springer Berman & Robert Pulcini and stars Ethan Hawke, Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld, Emily Mortimer, Julianne Nicholson and Emile Hirsch. The movie is set in the 1980 and follows a Vermont teenager who moves in with his hippie dad in NYC, where he falls in with the no drugs, no sex, no meat, straight-edge hardcore punk scene of the East Village.

Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Expected to top the weekend box office is the biographical drama Straight Outta Compton directed by F. Gary Gray and starring O’Shea Jackson Jr. as Ice Cube, Corey Hawkins as Dr. Dre, Jason Mitchell as Eazy-E, Aldis Hodge as MC Ren, Neil Brown, Jr. as DJ Yella and Paul Giamatti as N.W.A.’s manager Jerry Heller. The film’s original score is composed by Joseph Trapanese (Insurgent, Oblivion, Earth to Echo). Dr. Dre has released his first record in 16 years inspired by the movie last Friday. Garth Stevenson is composing the score for the upcoming indie coming of age dramedy Ten Thousand Saints. The film is directed by Robert Pulcini & Shari Springer Berman (American Splendor, The Nanny Diaries, Girl Most Likely) and stars Asa Butterfield, Ethan Hawke, Hailee Steinfeld, Emile Hirsch, Emily Mortimer and Julianne Nicholson. The movie based on a novel by Eleanor Henderson is set in the New York City East Village Punk scene during the 1980s and follows a young man who is sent to live with his estranged father in Manhattan. Anne Carey (Adventureland, The American) and Amy Nauiokas are producing the project for Archer Gray Productions, alongside Trudie Styler (Moon, Filth) and Celine Rattray (Bernie, Black Nativity) for Maven Pictures, and Luca Borghese.
