James Edward Barker (Lean on Pete, Heist, Precious Cargo, Mara) has been tapped to score the upcoming action thriller The Courier. The film is directed by Zackary Adler and stars Gary Oldman, Dermot Mulroney and Olga Kurylenko. The movie follows a courier whose daily deliveries are interrupted when she discovers her latest package is a bomb aimed at the witness of a crime lord’s murder and embarks on a race against time to save the target from corrupt CIA agents and Russian mercenaries.

‘Lean on Pete’ Soundtrack Announced
The details of the soundtrack album for Andrew Haigh’s drama Lean on Pete have been announced. The album features the film’s original music composed by James Edward Barker (Heist, Precious Cargo, Rise of the Footsoldier 3). The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, April 27 by Varese Sarabande and will be available to download on Amazon. Lean on Pete is written and directed by Haigh and stars Charlie Plummer, Steve Buscemi, Chloe Sevigny, Travis Fimmel, Steve Zahn, Amy Seimetz and Thomas Mann. The movie is based on Willy Vlautin’s novel of the same title and follows a fifteen-year-old boy who hooks up with a pair of itinerant horse trainers and develops a powerful bond with a racehorse on its last legs.

Four new movies are opening in theaters nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the horror thriller A Quiet Place directed by John Krasinski and starring Krasinski himself, Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe. The film’s original music is composed by Marco Beltrami (3:10 to Yuma, Logan, Scream, World War Z, The Hurt Locker, The Wolverine). Also opening wide is the comedy Blockers directed by Kay Cannon and starring Leslie Mann, Ike Barinholtz, John Cena, Kathryn Newton, Geraldine Indira Viswanathan and Gideon Adlan. Mateo Messina (Juno, Casual, Superstore, Butter, Barely Lethal) has composed the film’s original score. No soundtrack album has been announced. James Edward Barker has been hired to score the upcoming drama Lean on Pete. The film is written and directed by Andrew Haigh (45 Years, Looking, Weekend) and stars Charlie Plummer, Steve Buscemi, Chloe Sevigny, Travis Fimmel, Steve Zahn, Amy Seimetz, and Thomas Mann. The movie is based on Willy Vlautin’s novel of the same title and follows a fifteen-year-old boy who takes a summer job with a washed-up horse trainer and befriends a failing racehorse named Lean On Pete. Tristan Goligher (45 Years) is producing the project for The Bureau.
