Quartet Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1984 romantic drama Falling in Love directed by Ulu Grosbard and starring Robert De Niro, Meryl Streep, Harvey Keitel, George Martin, Jane Kaczmarek and Dianne Wiest. The album features the film’s expanded and newly remastered original score composed and conducted by Academy Award winner Dave Grusin (The Firm, Three Days of the Condor, The Milagro Beanfield War, Tootsie, Heaven Can Wait, Havana), as well as several alternate and unused cues. The CD is limited to 1,000 copies and is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also check out audio samples and find out more about the release. Kritzerland has previously released the world premiere soundtrack for the title back in 2014.

The album features the film’s Academy Award-nominated expanded and remastered original score composed and conducted by Academy Award winner Dave Grusin (Three Days of the Condor, The Firm, The Milagro Beanfield War, Tootsie, Havana), as well as unused music and numerous alternate cues. Varese Sarabande has announced The Dave Grusin Premiere Collection featuring four previously unreleased scores composed by Academy Award winner Dave Grusin (The Firm, The Milagro Beanfield War, Three Days of the Condor, Tootsie, Havana) for Columbia Pictures productions. The album features the composer’s music from the 1979 Academy Award-nominated drama …And Justice for All directed by Norman Jewison and starring Al Pacino, Jack Warden & John Forsythe, the 1981 Academy Award-nominated drama Absence of Malice directed by Sidney Pollack and starring Paul Newman, Sally Field & Melinda Dillon, 1976’s Murder by Death directed by Robert Moore and starring Eileen Brennan, Truman Capote, James Coco, Peter Falk, Sir Alec Guinness, David Niven, Peter Sellers, Maggie Smith & Nancy Walker.
‘Just Getting Started’ from ‘If You’re Not in the Obit, Eat Breakfast’ to Be Released
Reel Gold Records will release the original song Just Getting Started from the HBO documentary If You’re Not in the Obit, Eat Breakfast. The track is written by Academy Award winners Alan & Marilyn Bergman (Yentl, The Way We Were) and Dave Grusin (The Milagro Beanfield War, The Firm, On Golden Pond) and performed by Alan Bergman with Grusin & Band. The song will be released as a digital single on September 26, 2017 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The label will also release the song Young at Heart performed by Dick Van Dyke from the film on the same day (click here to pre-order). If You’re Not in the Obit, Eat Breakfast is produced and directed by Danny Gold and follows Carl Reiner as he tracks down several nonagenarians, including Mel Brooks, Dick Van Dyke, Norman Lear and Betty White who show that the later years can be the happiest and most rewarding.
‘On Golden Pond’ Soundtrack Announced
Varese Sarabande has announced the world premiere CD soundtrack release for the 1981 drama On Golden Pond directed by Mark Rydell and starring Katharine Hepburn, Henry Fonda, Jane Fonda, Doug McKeon, Dabney Coleman and William Lanteau. The album features the film’s original music composed by Dave Grusin (The Firm, The Goonies, The Milagro Beanfield War) who received his third Academy Award nomination for his work on the Universal Pictures release. Also included are dialogue snippets. The soundtrack will be released on April 28, 2017 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon.
Johann Johannsson, Trent Reznor, Jonny Greenwood, Tyler Bates, Christopher Lennertz & More Invited to Join Academy
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has invited 322 artists and executives who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to theatrical motion pictures to join the organization. Among the invited artists this year a number of film composers, including Johann Johannsson (Prisoners, Sicario) who received his first Academy Award nomination earlier this year for his music for The Theory of Everything, Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross who received the Oscar in 2011 for their work on David Fincher’s The Social Network and recently reunited with the director on Gone Girl, Tyler Bates whose film scoring credits include last year’s hit film Guardians of the Galaxy, Jonny Greenwood whose film music work include Paul Thomas Anderson’s There Will Be Blood, The Master and Inherent Vice and Christopher Lennertz whose recent feature credits include Ride Along, Horrible Bosses 2 and The Wedding Ringer.

La-La Land Records has released a new soundtrack album for Paramount Pictures’ 1993 thriller The Firm based on the John Grisham novel, directed by Sidney Pollack and starring Tom Cruise, Ed Harris and Holly Hunter. The album features the film’s expanded and remastered original music composed by Dave Grusin (Three Days of the Condor, The Goonies, Tootsie, Havana) who received an Academy Award nomination for his score, including previously unreleased music and alternates, as well as the content of the original 1993 soundtrack album. ‘Keep On Keepin’ On’ Soundtrack Details
Varese Sarabande will release a soundtrack album for the documentary Keep On Keepin’ On. The album features the music from the film by Clark Terry, including his performances with Duke Ellington, Oscar Peterson, Count Basie and Quincy Jones. Also included is dialogue from the movie and new compositions from Terry’s protege, Justin Kauflin and additional music by Academy Award winner Dave Grusin (The Goonies, Tootsie, The Firm). The soundtrack will be released on February 24, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Keep On Keepin’ On is directed by Australian filmmaker Alan Hicks who spent four years following the mentorship between jazz-legend Clark Terry and Kauflin, a blind piano prodigy, during a pivotal moment in each of their lives.

Expected to top the weekend box office is the film adaptation of the YA novel The Maze Runner directed by Wes Ball and starring Dylan O’Brien, Kaya Scodelario, Will Poulter, Aml Ameen and Thomas Brodie-Sangster. The film’s original music is composed by John Paesano (Dragons: Riders of Berk, When the Game Stands Tall, Crisis). Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music.
