Christophe Beck has recently composed the score for the upcoming romantic drama Endless Love. The film is directed by Shana Feste (Country Strong) and stars Alex Pettyfer, Gabriella Wilde, Robert Patrick, Bruce Greenwood, Rhys Wakefield, Dayo Okeniyi, Emma Rigby and Joely Richardson. The movie follows a privileged girl and a charismatic boy whose instant desire sparks a love affair made only more reckless by parents trying to keep them apart. Feste has co-written the screenplay with Joshua Safran (Gossip Girl, Smash). Scott Stuber (Ted, Safe House) and Pamela Abdy (Identity Thief, Garden State) of Bluegrass Films are producing the project with Josh Schwartz & Stephanie Savage (The O.C., The Carrie Diaries) of Fake Empire.

Awards Contenders in Conversation
The Hollywood Reporter published its yearly roundtable conversation with a number of film composers in contention for the major awards. This year’s participating composers include Hans Zimmer (Rush, 12 Years a Slave), Thomas Newman (Saving Mr. Banks), Alan Silvestri (The Croods), Steven Price (Gravity), Christophe Beck (Frozen) and Henry Jackman (Captain Phillips). The composers talk about the biggest musical challenges on their films this year, their own personal favorite scores of their career and whether they look at box office numbers of the movies they scored. Opening nationwide this holiday weekend after a 5-day exclusive engagement at Hollywood’s El Capitan Theatre is Disney’s animated feature Frozen directed by Jennifer Lee & Chris Buck and featuring the voice talent of Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff, Josh Gad, Santino Fontana, Alan Tudyk and Ciarán Hinds. Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez have written the film’s original songs and Christophe Beck (The Muppets, The Hangover) has composed the original score. Also opening wide is the action thriller Homefront directed by Gary Fleder and starring Jason Statham, James Franco, Winona Ryder, Frank Grillo, Kate Bosworth and Rachelle Lefevre. The film’s original score is composed by Mark Isham (Crash, Once Upon a Time) who has previously collaborated with the director several times, including on such films as Kiss the Girls, Don’t Say a Word and The Express. No soundtrack album has been announced yet. Homefront centers on a former drug enforcement agent and family man who moves off the grid with his daughter to a seemingly quiet bayou backwater to escape his troubled past. Opening in more than 2000 theaters is the comedy The Black Man Holiday directed by Malcolm D. Lee and starring Taye Diggs, Nia Long, Morris Chestnut, Harold Perrineau, Terrence Howard, Sanaa Lathan, Monica Calhoun, Melissa De Sousa and Regina Hall. Stanley Clarke (Passenger 57) who has previously collaborated with Lee on such films as Undercover Brothers, Soul Men and the original The Best Man film has composed the movie’s original score. RCA Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the Christmas-themed songs from the film by artists including Jordin Sparks, R. Kelly, Mary J. Blige, Fantasia, Ne-Yo and Emeli Sande. Opening in New York and Los Angeles before expanding to more cities within the next couple of weeks is the comedy drama Nebraska directed by Alexander Payne and starring Bruce Dern, Will Forte, Stacy Keach, June Squibb and Bob Odenkirk. The film’s music is composed by Mark Orton (The Good Girl) of the Californian acoustic chamber music group Tin Hat. Disney’s ‘Frozen’ Soundtrack Details
Walt Disney Records will release the official soundtrack album for the animated feature Frozen. The album features the film’s original songs performed by the voice cast of the movie and written by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, as well as a version of the song Let It Go performed by Demi Lovota (click here to check out the song, which premiered online earlier today). Also included is the film’s original score composed by Christophe Beck (Paperman, The Muppets, The Hangover). A deluxe edition of the soundtrack also features demos of both songs and score, outtakes and instrumental karaoke versions. The soundtrack will be released digitally and physically on November 25, 2013. The physical version will be released as a 2 CD-set and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. ‘Runner Runner’ Soundtrack Details
Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for the thriller Runner Runner. The album features the film’s original music composed by Christophe Beck (The Hangover, The Muppets, The Sentinel). The soundtrack will be released digitally on October 1, 2013 and physically on October 29. Check out audio clips from the score after the jump. Runner Runner is directed by Brad Furman (The Lincoln Lawyer) and stars Justin Timberlake, Gemma Arterton, Ben Affleck, Anthony Mackie, Michael Esper, Oliver Cooper and Ben Schwartz. The movie follows a young man who is cheated out of his tuition money playing online poker and flies to Costa Rica in the hope of reclaiming his losses from the site’s billionaire owner and ends up becoming the corrupt CEO’s right-hand man.
Christophe Beck to Score ‘Muppets Most Wanted’
The first teaser trailer for Walt Disney Pictures’ Muppets Most Wanted confirms that composer Christophe Beck who scored 2011’s reboot of The Muppets will return to provide the music for the sequel. The film is directed by James Bobin who also helmed the original film and stars Ricky Gervais, Ty Burrell and Tina Fey. The movie follows Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Walter and rest of the Muppets as they travel to Europe and find themselves unwittingly entangled in an international crime caper headed by Constantine – the World’s Number One Criminal – and his sidekick Dominic, aka Number Two. Bobin has also co-written the screenplay with Nicholas Stoller (Get Him to the Greek, Forgetting Sarah Marshall). David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman (The Proposal, The Fighter) are producing the Mandeville Films production.
The Varèse Sarabande Summer Signing Announced
Continuing the celebration of their 35th Anniversary, Varèse Sarabande Records presents The Varèse Sarabande Summer Signing to take place on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at Dark Delicacies in Burbank, CA. Composers in attendance include Emmy Award-winning composer Jeff Beal (Rome, Monk, Appaloosa) whose Emmy-nominated score for the Netflix original series House of Cards was released by the label earlier this year, Grammy Award-winning composer Heitor Pereira (Despicable Me, Beverly Hills Chihuaha) whose score for The Smurfs 2 was just released by Varese earlier this week and Emmy Award-winning composer Christophe Beck (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Muppets) whose music for The Hangover Trilogy is now available on CD following a digital release earlier this summer. Also participating are composers Laurent Eyquem (Winnie) who recently had his first score released on Varese for Ron Maxwell’s Copperhead and Ryan Amon whose score for Neil Blomkamp’s Elysium is set to be released on August 6, as well as Varèse Sarabande Records producer Robert Townson. The event will take place at Dark Delicacies, located at 3512 W Magnolia Blvd., Burbank, CA 91505, from 2:00PM to 4:00PM on Sunday August 11, 2013.

Four new movies are opening nationwide this week:
Opening in most theaters is DreamWorks Animation’s latest feature Turbo is directed by David Soren and featuring the voice talent of Ryan Reynolds, Paul Giamatti, Michael Pena, Luis Guzmán, Bill Hader, Richard Jenkins, Ken Jeong, Michelle Rodriguez, Maya Rudolph, Ben Schwartz, Kurtwood Smith, Snoop Dogg and Samuel L. Jackson. The film’s original score is composed by Henry Jackman (Wreck-It-Ralph, X-Men: First Class). Relativity Music Group has released three different soundtrack editions for the film: a regular edition featuring the songs from the film, as well as selections of Jackman’s music, a deluxe edition featuring more score and a score-only album.
Expected to top the weekend box office is the horror thriller The Conjuring directed by James Wan and starring Lili Taylor, Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, Ron Livingston, Joey King, Shanley Caswell, Haley McFarland, Mackenzie Foy, Kyla Deaver and Sterling Jerins. Joseph Bishara (Insidious, Dark Skies) has composed the film’s score. WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music, as well as the film’s “family theme”composed by Mark Isham.
