Back Lot Music will release a soundtrack album for the supernatural action adventure R.I.P.D.. The album features the film’s original score composed by Christophe Beck (The Hangover, The Muppets, Red), as well as the song The Better Man performed by Jeff Bridges and co-written and produced by T Bone Burnett. The soundtrack will be released digitally on July 16, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check out audio clips after the jump. R.I.P.D. is directed by Robert Schwentke (Red, Flightplan) and stars Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds as two cops dispatched by the otherworldly Rest In Peace Department to protect and serve the living from an increasingly destructive array of souls who refuse to move peacefully to the other side. Kevin Bacon, Mary-Louise Parker and Stephanie Szostak are co-starring. The movie will be released on July 19, 2013 by Universal Pictures.

Christophe Beck to Score ‘Runner, Runner’
Christophe Beck has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming thriller Runner, Runner. The film is directed by Brad Furman (The Lincoln Lawyer) and stars Justin Timberlake, Gemma Arterton, Ben Affleck, Anthony Mackie, Oliver Cooper, Michael Esper and Ben Schwartz. The movie centers on a young man who is cheated out of his tuition money playing online poker and flies to Costa Rica in the hope of reclaiming his losses from the site’s billionaire owner and ends up becoming the corrupt CEO’s right-hand man. Brian Koppelman & David Levien (Ocean’s Thirteen, Runaway Jury) co-wrote the screenplay and are also producing New Regency Pictures production with Leonardo DiCaprio & Jennifer Davisson Killoran (The Ides of March, Orphan) for Appian Way and Michael Shamberg & Stacey Sher (Django Unchained, Contagion) for Double Feature Films.
‘The Hangover’ Trilogy Score Album Details
WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album for Todd Phillips’ The Hangover trilogy. The album features selections from the scores of all three movies in the hit comedy series composed by Christophe Beck (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Red, The Muppets). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon. A physical version will be released on June 25, 2013 by Varese Sarabande Records and is available for pre-order here. WaterTower Music has previously released an album featuring Beck’s score from the original 2009 film, while the scores for the sequels have previously been unreleased. The Hangover Part III starring Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis and Ken Jeong is currently playing in theaters worldwide.

Two new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:
Expected to top the weekend box office is the horror thriller The Purge directed by James DeMonaco, produced by Michael Bay and Jason Blum and starring Ethan Hawke and Lena Headey. The film’s original score is composed by Nathan Whitehead. Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score earlier this week. Also opening wide is the comedy The Internship directed by Shawn Levy and starring Vince Vaughn, Owen Wilson, Rose Byrne and Max Minghella. Christophe Beck (The Hangover, The Muppets) who has previously collaborated with Levy on such films as Cheaper by the Dozen, The Pink Panther and Date Night has composed the film’s original score. No soundtrack album has been announced at this point. The comedy follows two salesmen whose careers have been torpedoed by the digital world and who talk their way into a coveted internship at Google. Expected to top the weekend box office is the action sequel Fast & Furious 6 directed by Justin Lin and starring Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, Gal Gadot, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Luke Evans, Gina Carano and John Ortiz. Def Jam Recordings has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs featured in the film by artists including 2 Chainz and Wiz Khalifa, T.I., deadmau5 feat. Cypress Hills and and Ludacris feat. Christophe Beck Scoring ‘The Hangover Part III’
Christophe Beck is scoring the upcoming comedy sequel The Hangover Part III. The film is directed by Todd Phillips and stars Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, Ken Jeong, Heather Graham, Jeffrey Tambor, Justin Bartha, John Goodman, Sasha Barrese, Gillian Vigman and Jamie Chung. Phillips has also written the script with Craig Mazin (Identity Thief) and is producing the third and final part in the Hangover trilogy with Dan Goldberg. Beck has previously collaborated with Phillips on the first two The Hangover movies, as well as on the features School for Scoundrels and Due Date. The Hangover Part III will be released on May 24, 2013 by Warner Bros. Pictures.
Christophe Beck to Score Disney’s ‘Frozen’
Christophe Beck has been hired to score Walt Disney Animation Studios’ upcoming feature Frozen. The film directed by Chris Buck (Tarzan, Surf’s Up) & Jennifer Lee (screenwriter of Wreck-It-Ralph) takes place in a kingdom trapped in eternal winter and follows a young female dreamer who must team up with a daring mountain man, on a journey to find the Snow Queen and put an end to the icy spell. The movie’s voice cast includes Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad. Lee has co-written the screenplay with Shane Morris and Peter Del Vecho (The Princess and the Frog) is producing the animated feature with John Lasseter. It has previously been reported that Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez (Winnie the Pooh) are writing original songs for the film. Beck has previously scored the critically acclaimed Academy Award-nominated animated short Paperman for Disney Animation.
The Music of ‘Movie 43’
The ensemble all-star comedy Movie 43 produced by Peter Farrelly opened nationwide last weekend. Several composers have composed the score of the different comedy shorts within the film. William Goodrum who has previously contributed music for most of the Farrelly Brothers’ features including There’s Something About Mary, Me, Myself & Irene, Shallow Hal and most recently, The Three Stooges has scored the overarching segment The Pitch starring Dennis Quaid, Greg Kinnear & Common, as well as the shorts Homeschooled directed by Will Graham and starring Naomi Watts & Liev Schreiber, The Proposition directed by Steve Carr and starring Anna Faris & Chris Pratt, Veronica directed by Griffin Dunne and starring Emma Stone & Kieran Culkin, Middle School Date directed by Elizabeth Banks and starring Chloe Grace Moretz & Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Victory’s Glory directed by Rusty Cundieff and starring Terrence Howard. David J. Hodge has written the score for the segment Superhero Speed Dating directed by James Duffy and starring Justin Long, Jason Sudekis & Kristen Bell, while Goodrum provided additional music.

Opening today is the thriller Jack Reacher directed by Christopher McQuarrie and starring Tom Cruise, Rosamund Pike, Richard Jenkins, Werner Herzog, David Oyelowo and Robert Duvall. The film’s music is composed by Joe Kraemer who previously scored the director’s 2000 film The Way of the Gun. La-La Land Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score digitally earlier this week. The release date for the physical version is set for early January. Also opening today is the comedy drama This is 40 written and directed by Judd Apatow and starring Paul Rudd, Leslie Mann, John Lithgow, Megan Fox, Iris Apatow, Maude Apatow, Melissa McCarthy, Jason Segel, Robert Smigel, Charlyne Yi and Albert Brooks. The film’s original score is composed by Jon Brion (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind). A soundtrack album featuring one score track by the composer, as well as the film’s songs by artists including Norah Jones, Fiona Apple, Graham Parker and Lindsey Buckingham (all produced by Jon Brion), Wilco and Ryan Adams has been released on Capitol Records.
