Christophe Beck and Dead Mono have composed the score for the upcoming indie romance The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman. The film is directed by Fredrik Bond and stars Shia LaBeouf in the title role of Charlie who falls for a Romanian beauty, played by Evan Rachel Wood, whose unreachable heart has its origins in her violent, charismatic ex. Mads Mikkelsen, Til Schweiger, Rupert Grint and James Buckley are co-starring. Matt Drake (Project X) has written the screenplay. Albert Berger & Ron Yerxa (Little Miss Sunshine, Cold Mountain), Craig J. Flores (300) and William Horberg (The Talented Mr. Ripley) are producing for Voltage Productions and Bona Fide Productions.

Walt Disney Records to Release Christophe Beck’s ‘Paperman’ Score
Walt Disney Records will release the score for Disney’s animated short Paperman. The music is composed by Christophe Beck (The Muppets, The Hangover). The one-track single will be released digitally on December 18, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Paperman directed by John Kahrs and produced by John Lasseter follows the story of a lonely young man in mid-century New York City, whose destiny takes an unexpected turn after a chance meeting with a beautiful woman on his morning commute. The black-and-white animated short is currently playing in theaters nationwide in front of Disney’s Wreck-It-Ralph and is among the 10 shorts up for an Academy Award in the Best Animated Short Film category.

Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Expected to top the weekend box office is the animated feature Wreck-It-Ralph directed by Rich Moore and featuring the voice talent of John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer and Jane Lynch. The film’s score is composed by Henry Jackman (X-Men: First Class). Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the score, as well as one track by Skrillex who wrote some of the in-game music and other songs featured in the film. Attached to the film is the animated short Paperman, which features an original score by Christophe Beck.
Also opening wide is the drama director Robert Zemeckis and starring Denzel Washington, Kelly Reilly, Don Cheadle, Bruce Greenwood, John Goodman, Melissa Leo and James Badge Dale. The director’s regular musical collaborator Alan Silvestri (Back to the Future, The Avengers) has composed the film’s original score. Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the animated feature Hotel Transylvania directed by Genndy Tartakov and featuring the voice talent of Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Selena Gomez, Kevin James, Fran Drescher, Steve Buscemi, Molly Shannon, David Spade, CeeLo Green and Jon Lovitz. The film’s music is composed by Mark Mothersbaugh who previously scored Sony Pictures Animation’s Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. The film’s original song Problem performed by Becky G feat. will.i.am is now available to download on iTunes. No full soundtrack album has been announced yet. Also opening wide is the sci-fi thriller Looper directed by Rian Johnson and starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, Jeff Daniels, Noah Segan and Piper Perabo. The film’s score is composed by Nathan Johnson who previously worked with the director on Brick and The Brothers Bloom. Cut Narrative has released the soundtrack album digitally and limited edition CD version featuring music not included on the digital release is available on La-La Land Records. ‘Pitch Perfect’ Soundtrack Details
Universal Music Group will be releasing the soundtrack album for the musical comedy Pitch Perfect. The album features the songs performed by the movie’s competing a capella groups The Barden Bellas and The Treblemakers. Also included is a suite from the film’s original score composed and produced by Christophe Beck and Mark Kilian. The soundtrack will be released digitally on September 25, 2012 and physically on October 2. To pre-order the CD, visit Amazon. Christophe Beck Scoring ‘The Guilt Trip’
Christophe Beck is scoring the upcoming comedy The Guilt Trip. The film directed by Anne Fletcher (The Proposal, 28 Dresses) stars Seth Rogen as an inventor who invites his overbearing mother, played by Barbra Streisand, on a cross-country trip as he tries to sell his new product while also reuniting her with a lost love. Yvonne Strahovski, Colin Hanks and Adam Scott are co-starring. Dan Fogelman (Crazy.Stupid.Love, Cars) has written the screenplay and Evan Goldberg (Superbad, The Green Hornet), Lorne Michaels (30 Rock, Mean Girls) & John Goldwyn (Dexter,Baby Mama) are producing the Paramount Pictures production.
Christophe Beck to Score ‘R.I.P.D.’
Christophe Beck has been tapped to score Universal Pictures’ supernatural action comedy R.I.P.D. The film is directed by Robert Schwentke (Flightplan) and stars Ryan Reynolds, Jeff Bridges, Kevin Bacon and Mary Louise-Parker. The movie based on the graphic novel by Peter Lenkov follows a cop killed in the line of duty who is recruited by a team of undead police officers working for the Rest in Peace Department and tries to find the man who murdered him. Phil Hay & Matt Manfredi (Clash of the Titans) have written the screenplay and Neil H. Moritz (I Am Legend, Fast Five) amd Mike Richardson (Hellboy) are producing the film. Reynolds, David Dobkin (The Wedding Crashers) Keith Goldberg, Jonathon Komack Martin (Tangled) and Ori Marmur (Battle Los Angeles) are among the executive producers of the Dark Horse Entertainment and Original Film production.
‘The Road We’ve Traveled’ Features Music by Christophe Beck
Christophe Beck has scored the short documentary The Road We’ve Traveled, which premiered online last night. The movie is narrated by Tom Hanks and gives an inside look at the tough calls President Obama made during the last three years. The film features interviews with President Bill Clinton, Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Elizabeth Warren, David Axelrod and Austan Goolsbee. The short is directed by Academy Award-winning director Davis Guggenheim (An Inconvenient Truth) who previously worked with Beck on the 2010 documentary Waiting for Superman and a couple of shorts for the Obama campaign in 2008. Christophe Beck on ‘Good Morning America’
This morning, ABC’s Good Morning America featured a 5-minute segment on composer Christophe Beck. ABC correspondent Cameron Mathison visited Beck at his studio in Santa Monica, where he talked to the composer about his recent score for Walt Disney Pictures’ The Muppets, his favorite scene from the movie and also asked him to score his own home video. Beck’s music can currently be heard in the action romantic comedy This Means War starring Reese Witherspoon and next up for the composer is the sci-fi comedy Neighborhood Watch starring Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn and Jonah Hill.
