Sony Classical will release the official soundtrack album for Brett Ratner’s Hercules. The album features the film’s original music composed by Fernando Velazquez (The Impossible, Mama, Devil, The Orphanage). Hercules stars Dwayne Johnson in the title role as the Greek demigod who has his life as a sword-for-hire tested when the King of Thrace and his daughter seek his aid in defeating a tyrannical warlord. Fernando Velazquez to Score Brett Ratner’s ‘Hercules’
Fernando Velazquez has been tapped to compose the music for the upcoming action adventure Hercules. The film is directed by Brett Ratner and stars Dwayne Johnson in the title role alongside Ian McShane, Joseph Fiennes, Peter Mullan, Rufus Sewell, John Hurt, Rebecca Ferguson, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Aksel Hennie and Reece Ritchie. The movie based on the graphic novel Hercules: The Thracian Wars is a revisionist take on the classic myth set in a grounded world where the supernatural does not exist. Ryan Condal and Evan Spiliotopoulos have written the screenplay. Ratner is also producing the project with Beau Flynn (Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters) and Barry Levine (Oblivion).
The Music of ‘Movie 43’
The ensemble all-star comedy Movie 43 produced by Peter Farrelly opened nationwide last weekend. Several composers have composed the score of the different comedy shorts within the film. William Goodrum who has previously contributed music for most of the Farrelly Brothers’ features including There’s Something About Mary, Me, Myself & Irene, Shallow Hal and most recently, The Three Stooges has scored the overarching segment The Pitch starring Dennis Quaid, Greg Kinnear & Common, as well as the shorts Homeschooled directed by Will Graham and starring Naomi Watts & Liev Schreiber, The Proposition directed by Steve Carr and starring Anna Faris & Chris Pratt, Veronica directed by Griffin Dunne and starring Emma Stone & Kieran Culkin, Middle School Date directed by Elizabeth Banks and starring Chloe Grace Moretz & Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Victory’s Glory directed by Rusty Cundieff and starring Terrence Howard. David J. Hodge has written the score for the segment Superhero Speed Dating directed by James Duffy and starring Justin Long, Jason Sudekis & Kristen Bell, while Goodrum provided additional music.
Christophe Beck Scoring ‘The Guilt Trip’
Christophe Beck is scoring the upcoming comedy The Guilt Trip. The film directed by Anne Fletcher (The Proposal, 28 Dresses) stars Seth Rogen as an inventor who invites his overbearing mother, played by Barbra Streisand, on a cross-country trip as he tries to sell his new product while also reuniting her with a lost love. Yvonne Strahovski, Colin Hanks and Adam Scott are co-starring. Dan Fogelman (Crazy.Stupid.Love, Cars) has written the screenplay and Evan Goldberg (Superbad, The Green Hornet), Lorne Michaels (30 Rock, Mean Girls) & John Goldwyn (Dexter,Baby Mama) are producing the Paramount Pictures production.
Mark Mothersbaugh to Score the Lego Movie
Mark Mothersbaugh announced at the SXSW Festival (via The Playlist) that he will be scoring Warner Bros. Pictures’ animated feature film Lego. The movie written and directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller will incorporate the latest animation and photo-real techniques. Chris McKay (Robot Chicken) is involved as a co-director and Dan Lin (Sherlock Holmes) and Roy Lee (How to Train Your Dragon, The Strangers) are producing. Jill Wilfert is executive producing for the Lego Company and Seanne Winslow is co-producing for Lynn Pictures. No plot details have been revealed yet, but the movie is said to feature both Lego-licensed and original characters. Mothersbaugh has scored the directors’ last two movies, including the animated hit Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs and the action comedy 21 Jump Street, which is being released in theaters this weekend and was shown at SXSW.
‘Tower Heist’ Soundtrack Details
Varese Sarabande has announcd the details for the soundtrack release of the action comedy Tower Heist. The album features the original score by composer Christophe Beck. The soundtrack will be released on November 1, 2011 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Tower Heist marks Beck’s and director Brett Ratner’s first collaboration. The movie starring Ben Stiller, Eddie Murphy, Casey Affleck, Matthew Broderick, Tea Leoni, Michael Pena, Alan Alda, Gabourey Sidibe, Judd Hirsch and Nina Arianda will be released nationwide on November 4.

Christophe Beck has been hired to score the upcoming action comedy Tower Heist. The movie directed by Brett Ratner revolves around a team of overworked operations and maintenance workers at a Manhattan luxury highrise who stage an intricately choreographed heist of its penthouse tenant, a Wall Street capitalist who pulled a Ponzi scheme and swindled the staff. The caper pic stars Ben Stiller, Eddie Murphy, Casey Affleck, Matthew Broderick, Tea Leoni, Michael Pena, Alan Alda, Gabourey Sidibe, Judd Hirsch and Nina Arianda. The projects marks the first collaboration between Beck and Ratner.
