Two new movies are opening wide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the sci-fi comedy The Watch directed by Akiva Schaffer and starring Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill, Rosemarie Dewitt and Richard Ayoade. Also opening wide is the dance movie Step Up Revolution directed by Scott Speer and starring Kathryn McCormick, Ryan Guzman and Stephen Boss. Aaron Zigman has composed the film’s score. Interscope Records has released a soundtrack including the songs featured in the movie by artists including Travis Parker, Timbaland, Fergie, Jennifer Lopez, M.I.A., Far East Movement, Sohanny and Vein, Diplo and My Name is Kay. Opening in limited release is comedy drama Ruby Sparks directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris and starring Paul Dano, Zoe Kazan, Annette Bening, Chris Messina, Alia Shawkat, Antonio Banderas, Deborah Ann Woll, Steve Coogan, Elliott Gould and Toni Trucks. The film’s music is composed by Nick Urata who previously scored the directors’ indie hit Little Miss Sunshine as part of DeVotchKa. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the score, as well as a number of songs from the film. Click here to check out audio clips and find out more about the release. Opening in New York this weekend before expanding to other cities next week is the Southern thriller Killer Joe directed by William Friedkin and starring Matthew McConaughey, Emile Hirsch, Thomas Haden Church, Gina Gershon and Juno Temple. The film’s music is composed by Tyler Bates (300, Watchmen). Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as a cover of the song These Boots Are Made For Walkin produced by Bates and performed by Nan Vernon. Finally, also opening in select cities is the documentary Searching for Sugar Man directed by Malik Bendjelloul, and produced by Michael Chinn about 70′s US rock icon Rodriguez. Sony Legacy has released a soundtrack album including a selection of songs by the film’s title character, which are featured in the movie but originally found on his records Cold Fact and Coming from Reality.
