Universal Pictures announced that Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus will be providing the music for the upcoming movie musical Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again!. The film is the sequel to the studios’ 2008 hit feature Mamma Mia! starring Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan and Colin Firth. The movie will be written and directed by Ol Parker (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Imagine Me and You) and will feature ABBA songs not featured in the first film, as well as some reprised favorites. Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Expected to top the weekend box office is the sci-fi horror movie Alien: Covenant directed by Ridley Scott and starring Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz and Jussie Smollett. The film’s original music is composed by Jed Kurzel (Assassin’s Creed, The Babadook, Macbeth, The Snowtown Murders). Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Also opening wide is the romantic drama Everything, Everything directed by Stella Meghie and starring Amandla Stenberg, Ana de la Reguera, Anika Noni Rose, Nick Robinson and Taylor Hickson. Roque Banos to Score Terry Gilliam’s ‘The Man Who Killed Don Quixote’

Roque Banos has been hired to score the upcoming film adaptation of The Man Who Killed Don Quixote. The film is directed by Terry Gilliam (Brazil, The Fisher King, The Brothers Grimm) and stars Adam Driver, Michael Palin, Stellan Skarsgard and Olga Kurylenko. The movie follows a jaded young advertising executive who returns to the Spanish village where he made a film based on Cervantes’ masterpiece years earlier and meets a villager who believes himself to be Don Quixote as he gets swept up in a fantastic extravaganza complete with damsels in distress, knights and giants. The album features the songs from the second half of the show’s fifth season performed by cast members including Connie Britton, Hayden Panettiere, Charles Esten, Clare Bowen, Sam Palladio, Jonathan Jackson, Chris Carmack and Lennon & Maisy, as well as Will Chase, Joseph David-Jones and Rhiannon Giddens. Walt Disney Records will release a score album for Pixar’s latest animated movie Cars 3. The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by Academy Award-winning composer Randy Newman (Toy Story series, A Bug’s Life, Avalon, The Natural, James and the Giant Peach, The Princess and the Frog) who previously scored the 2006 original Cars movie. The soundtrack will be released on June 16, 2017 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. As previously reported, the label will also release a separate soundtrack featuring the songs from the movie. The film is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (Non-Stop, Unknown, Orphan, The Shallows) and stars Liam Neeson, Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, Sam Neill, Elizabeth McGovern and Jonathan Banks. The movie centers on a businessman in his daily commute home who is forced by a mysterious stranger to uncover the identity of a passenger before the train’s last stop.
