Three new movies are opening in theaters nationwide this week:
Opening in most theaters is the horror thriller The Curse of La Llorona directed by Michael Chaves and starring Linda Cardellini, Patricia Velasquez and Raymond Cruz. The film’s original music is composed by Joseph Bishara (The Conjuring, Annabelle, Insidious, The Prodigy). WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score last week. Already playing in theaters since Wednesday is the faith-based drama Breakthrough directed by Roxann Dawson and starring Chrissy Metz, Josh Lucas, Topher Grace, Mike Colter, Sam Trammell, Marcel Ruiz and Dennis Haysbert. Marcelo Zarvos (Fences, Wonder, The Affair, The Good Shepherd) has composed the film’s original score. Fox Music has released as soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score (click here for more details). Mercury Nashville has released a separate album featuring the songs from & inspired by the movie, including an original track written by Diane Warren and performed by Metz (click here for more information).
Brian McOmber (It Comes at Night, Krisha, Ugly) has recently composed the music for the upcoming indie drama Little Woods. The film is written and directed by Nia DaCosta and stars Tessa Thompson, Lily James, James Badge Dale, Luke Kirby and Lance Reddick. The movie is being described as a “modern western” and tells the story of two sisters who are driven to work outside the law to better their lives. Rachael Fung and Gabrielle Nadig (King Jack) are producing the project.
