Intrada Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1999 action adventure The Mummy directed by Stephen Sommers and starring Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, John Hannah and Arnold Vosloo. The album features the expanded original music from the Universal Pictures production composed and conducted by Jerry Goldsmith (The Omen, Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Planet of the Apes, Patton, Basic Instinct), including over half an hour of previously unreleased music, plus alternate tracks. Danny Elfman has been hired to score the upcoming fantasy adventure The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle. The film is directed by Stephen Gaghan (Syriana, Gold) and stars Robert Downey Jr., Jim Broadbent, Antonio Banderas and Michael Sheen. The project’s voice cast includes Selena Gomez, Tom Holland, Emma Thompson, Ralph Fiennes, Rami Malek, Octavia Spencer, Kumail Nanjiani, Craig Robinson, John Cena, Marion Cotillard, Carmen Ejogo and Frances de la Tour.  The movie is based on the character from Hugh Lofting’s 1920s series of children’s books about a Victorian-era physician who opts to treat animals instead of humans because he’s able to speak with them.  Read the rest of this entry »

Sony Masterworks will release a soundtrack album for the animated feature Animal Crackers. The album features the original songs from the movie by Howard Jones and Toad the Wet Sprocket, as well as tracks by Queen, Huey Lewis & the News, Michael Bublé, Katie Herzig, Fleur East & more. Also included are three tracks from the film’s original score composed by Bear McCreary (10 Cloverfield Lane, The Walking Dead, Battlestar Galactica, Outlander). The composer also produced two original songs performed by Ian McKellen and written by John Adair and Jeff ‘Swampy’ Marsh, Dan Povenmire, Robert Hughes, Danny Jacob & Scott Christian Sava. Frederik Wiedmann is scoring the upcoming Netflix animated series The Dragon Prince. The show is created by Aaron Ehasz (Avatar: The Last Airbender) and follows two human princes who forge an unlikely bond with the elfin assassin sent to kill them, embarking on an epic quest to bring peace to their warring lands. Ehasz is also executive producing the project with director Justin Richmond (Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception), Gigi Pritzker (Drive, Ender’s Game, Genius) and Giancarlo Volpe who previously served as a producer on the Wiedmann-scored Green Lantern: The Animated Series. Premiering tomorrow, July 16, is the HBO documentary Robin Williams: Come Inside My Mind directed by Marina Zenovich about the extraordinary life and career of one of the world’s most beloved and inventive comedians. The film’s original music is composed by Adam Dorn (Kickboxer: Vengeance & Retaliation, Nobodies). The documentary premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and is premiering on HBO following a limited theatrical release this past weekend. Premiering on Thursday, July 19, is the horror comedy Office Uprising directed by Lin Oeding and starring Brenton Thwaites, Jane Levy, Karan Soni, Zachary Levi and Alan Ritchson. Tim Jones (Chuck, Human Target, Cult) has composed the film’s original music. The movie tells the the story of an underachiever working at a major weapons manufacturing firm who finds that his co-workers have been “weaponized” by a new energy drink designed for the military. Screamworks Records has released a soundtrack album for the horror thriller Ruin Me. The album features the film’s original music composed by Holly Amber Church (The Devil’s Dolls). Ruin Me is co-written and directed by Preston DeFrancis and stars Marcienne Dwyer, Matt Dellapina, Chris Hill, Eva Hamilton, John Odom, Cameron Gordon and Sam Ashdown. Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the animated sequel Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation directed by Genndy Tartakovsky and starring Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Selena Gomez, Kevin James, David Spade and Steve Buscemi. The film’s original score is composed by Mark Mothersbaugh (Thor: RagnarokThe LEGO Movie). Selections of the composer’s score are available on a soundtrack compilation featuring the composer’s music from all three movies in the series (click here for the full details). Lakeshore Records has announced a soundtrack album for the YouTube Red original series Impulse. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by DERU (aka Benjamin Wynn) (Avatar: The Last Airbender, Legend of KorraKung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness). The soundtrack will be released digitally on July 20, 2018 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Impulse is based on the third novel in the Jumper series by Steven Gould and stars Maddie Hasson, Missi Pyle, Sarah Desjardins, Enuka Okuma, Craig Arnold and David James Elliott.
