A soundtrack album will be released for the French period drama Angelique. The album features the film’s original score composed by Nathaniel Mechaly (Taken, Colombiana, The Grandmaster) and performed by The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. The soundtrack will be released in France on December 16, 2013. Click here to check out audio clips. No word yet on a domestic release date. Angelique is directed by Ariel Zeitoun and stars Nora Arnezeder in the title role, alongside Gérard Lanvin, Tomer Sisley and David Kross. The movie is a remake of the film by the same name from 1964 based on the novel by based on the novel by Anne and Serge Golon about the beautiful feisty teenage heroine. The drama will be released in France on December 18.

Three new movies are opening nationwide this week:
Already in theaters since this past Wednesday is the fantasy adventure The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones directed by Harald Zwart and starring Lily Collins, Jamie Campbell Bower, Lena Headey, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Aidan Turner, Robert Sheehan, Kevin Durand and Jared Harris. Republic Records has released a soundtrack featuring the film’s songs by artists including Zedd, Jessie J, AFI and Demi Lovato. Check out our previous article for the full details. ‘The Grandmaster’ Soundtrack Details
Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for the martial arts epic The Grandmaster. The album features the film’s original music composed by Shigeru Umebayashi (House of Flying Daggers, In the Mood for Love) and Nathaniel Mechaly (Taken, Colombiana). Also included are two tracks composed by Ennio Morricone, including Deborah’s Theme from Once Upon a Time in America. The soundtrack will be released physically on September 10, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check back on this page for audio clips and the release date of the digital version. The Grandmaster is directed by Wong Kar-Wai (In the Mood for Love, My Blueberry Nights) and stars Tony Leung, Ziyi Zhang, Chang Chen, Zhao Benshan, Xiao Shenyang and Song Hye Kyo. ‘The Grandmaster’ to Feature Music by Nathaniel Mechaly
Nathaniel Mechaly has composed a new score for the international version of the martial arts epic The Grandmaster. The film is directed by Wong Kar-Wai (In the Mood for Love, My Blueberry Nights) and stars Tony Leung Chiu-wai, Zhang Ziyi, Chang Chen, Wang Qingxiang, Zhang Jin, Zhao Benshan and Song Hye-kyo. The movie is a biopic of martial artist Ip Man, who practiced the art of Wing Chun and is best known as the man who taught Bruce Lee. Kar-Wai is producing the Jet Tone Films and Sil-Metropole Organization production with Jacky Pang Yee-wah. Shigeru Umebayashi composed a score for the version that was released in China last month.

Opening in most theaters is the action thriller Taken 2 directed by Olivier Megaton and starring Liam Neeson, Maggie Grace, Famke Janssen and Rade Šerbedžija. The film’s music is composed by Nathaniel Mechaly who previously scored the 2008 original film. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as songs by artists including Phoebe Killdeer and the Short Straws, Kasbah Rockers and College & Electric Youth has been released digitally earlier this week. The details of the soundtrack album for the action thriller Taken 2 have been revealed. The album features the film’s original score written by French composer Nathaniel Mechaly who previously scored the first installment in the series. Also included are a number of the songs featured in the film by artists including Phoebe Killdeer and the Short Straws, Kasbah Rockers and College & Electric Youth. Taken 2 is directed by Olivier Megaton (Colombiana) and stars Liam Neeson who returns as Bryan Mills and is targeted by a vengeance-seeking crimelord. The movie will be released nationwide on October 5, 2012 by 20th Century Fox.
Nathaniel Mechaly to Score ‘The Transporter’ TV series
Nathaniel Mechaly has signed on to score the upcoming TV adaptation of Luc Besson’s action franchise The Transporter. The show centers on professional transporter Frank Martin, who opertates in a seedy underworld of dangerous criminals and desperate players. Chris Vance (Prison Break stars in the title role that was played by Jason Statham in the film series. Andrea Osvart, Francois Berleand (Tell No One), who will reprise his role as Inspector Tarconi from the Transporter features, Delphine Chaneac (Splice) and Rachel Skarsten (Birds of Prey) are co-starring. Stephen Williams (Lost) directed the pilot and Luc Besson is among the executive producers on the show. The Transporter is a co-production of HBO, HBO Canada, France’s M6 and Germany’s RTL Television.

The film’s music is composed by Marco Beltrami and Buck Sanders. A soundtrack album featuring the score has been released digitally earlier this week and will be coming out on CD on September 27 on Lakeshore Records. Nathaniel Mechaly Returns to Score ‘Taken 2’
According to Evolution Music Partners, Nathaniel Mechaly is set to return to score the upcoming action sequel Taken 2. Liam Neeson will be reprising his role as the retired government operative Bryan Mills from the Pierre Morel-directed 2008 hit film. Maggie Grace is set to reappear as Neeson’s daughter. The movie will be directed by Olivier Megaton (Transporter 3, Colombiana). Deadline has reported a few months ago that Luc Besson has teamed up with Robert Mark Kamen to write the project’s screenplay. With principal photography not expected to begin until the end of the year or early 2012, not much else is known about the project at this point.
Nathaniel Mechaly Scoring ‘Colombiana’
The first trailer of the upcoming action thriller Colombiana premiered today and confirms the involvement of composer Nathaniel Mechaly. The film is directed by Olivier Megaton (Transporter 3) and co-written by Robert Mark Kamen (The Fifth Element, Taken, The Karate Kid) and Luc Besson, who also serves as one of the project’s producers. The movie’s cast is toplined by Zoe Saldana and Jordi Molla, Lennie James, Michael Vartan and Cliff Curtis are co-starring. Colombiana centers on a young woman who grows up to be an assassin after witnessing the murder of her parents as a child in Bogota.
