EX Limited & The Hubsters have released the first-ever soundtrack album for the 2002 Chinese drama Zhou Yu’s Train co-written and directed by Sun Zhou and starring Gong Li, Tony Leung Ka-Fai and Sun Honglei. The album features the film’s original music composed by Shigeru Umebayashi (In the Mood for Love, House of Flying Daggers, The Grandmaster, 2046, Curse of the Golden Flowers). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on all major digital music services, including Amazon. Also listen to the composer’s title track after the jump. Zhou Yu’s Train first opened in Chinese theaters in 2002 and was released n U.S. theaters by Sony Pictures Classics.

‘Dark Sea’ (‘Mare Nero’) Soundtrack Album Released
Silva Screen Records has released the first-ever soundtrack album for the 2006 Italian drama Dark Sea (Mare Nero) directed by Roberta Torre and starring Luigi Lo Cascio, Anna Mouglalis, Maurizio Donadoni and Massimo Popolizio. The album features the film’s original music composed by Shigeru Umebayashi (House of Flying Daggers, In the Mood for Love, The Grandmaster, 2046,Curse of the Golden Flowers). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on all major digital music services, including Amazon. Also listen to the composer’s main theme after the jump. The label is also releasing a CD version, which also includes Umeyashi’s score from Torre’s In the Mirror (check out the cover art below).

In the Mirror is written and directed by Roberta Torre and stars Alba Rohrwacher, Filippo Timi, Marina Rocco, Valentina Banci and Giovanni Cannata. The movie follows a woman who loses her memory and finds new meaning in her life by identifying with the various film characters played by actress Monica Vitti.
Mychael Danna, Shigeru Umebyashi & Gabriel Yared ‘Music in Film’ Series Albums Announced
Film Fest Ghent has announced the expanded editions of three of its earlier albums, featuring music by Mychael Danna (Life of Pi, Moneyball, Capote), Shigeru Umebayashi (In the Mood for Love, House of Flying Daggers, A Single Man) and Gabriel Yared (The English Patient, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Cold Mountain) respectively, reissuing them in the Music for Film album series. The three albums have been updated with newly recorded music in collaboration with the composers, and will be released during the 48th edition of Film Fest Ghent, which will take place from October 12-23. All music is performed by Brussels Philharmonic and Vlaams Radiokoor and conducted by Film Fest Ghent music director Dirk Brossé.
Shigeru Umebayashi Scoring Li Weiran’s ‘The Yin Yang Master’
Shigeru Umebayashi (In the Mood for Love, House of Flying Daggers, The Grandmaster, 2046, Curse of the Golden Flowers) has composed the original music for the new Chinese fantasy drama The Yin Yang Master. The film is directed by Li Weiran and stars Chen Kun, Zhou Xun and William Chan. The movie based on the popular mobile game Onmyōji is set in a world that is on the verge of a devastating war with the monsters who are coming back to retrieve the Scaling Stone and follows the titular Yin Yang Master as he travels to different worlds to prepare for the upcoming assaults.

Opening nationwide this weekend is the drama The Last Shift written and directed by Andrew Cohn and starring Richard Jenkins, Shane Paul McGhie, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Birgundi Baker, Allison Tolman and Ed O’Neill. The film’s original music is composed by Mark Orton (Nebraska, The Good Girl, My Old Lady). No soundtrack album has been announced. Opening in over 500 theaters this weekend is the crime comedy Kajillionaire written and directed by Miranda July and starring Evan Rachel Wood, Gina Rodriguez, Richard Jenkins and Debra Winger. Emile Mosseri (The Last Black Man in San Francisco, Minari, Homecoming) has composed the film’s original music. Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as the Mr. Lonely cover by himself & Angel Olsen, which is also available separately as a digital single. Shigeru Umebayashi Scoring Peter Ho-Sun Chan’s ‘Leap’ (‘Duo Guan’)
Shigeru Umebayashi (In the Mood for Love, House of Flying Daggers, Curse of the Golden Flowers, The Grandmaster) has composed the original music for the new Chinese sports drama Leap (Duo Guan). The film is directed by Peter Ho-Sun Chan (The Warlords, Dragon) and stars Gong Li, Huang Bo, Wu Gang, Peng Yuchang and Bai Lang. The movie tells the true story of the women’s national volleyball team of China and legendary volleyball coach Lang Ping who lead the rival U.S. team at the 2008 Beijing Volleyball Game and later returned to her own country to coach the Chinese team.

‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny’ Soundtrack Details
Sony Classical will release a soundtrack album for the Netflix original movie Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny. The album features the film’s original music composed by Shigeru Umebayashi (House of Flying Daggers, In the Mood for Love, Curse of the Golden Flower, 2046). Pianist Lang Lang is featured as a soloist on the score. Also included is the original end credits song Eternal Breath co-written by the composer. The soundtrack will be released physically next month and digitally on March 11, 2016. Visit Amazon to pre-order the album.
