Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the sci-fi drama Arrival directed by Denis Villeneuve and starring Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner and Forest Whitaker. The film’s original music is composed by Johann Johannsson (The Theory of Everything, Sicario, Prisoners). Deutsche Grammophon has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Also opening wide is the comedy Almost Christmas directed by David E. Talbert and starring Kimberly Elise, Danny Glover, John Michael Higgins, Romany Malco, Mo’Nique, JB Smoove, Gabrielle Union, Omar Epps, Nicole Ari Parker and Jessie T. Usher. John Paesano (The Maze Runner, Daredevil, When the Game Stands Tall) has composed the film’s original score. Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as the songs from the movie by Four Top, Robin Thicke, Karl Bynes, Etta James, The Commodores & more. Nathaniel Mechaly Scoring Simon West’s ‘Stratton’

Nathaniel Mechaly has recently recorded his score for the upcoming action thriller Stratton. The film is directed by Simon West (Con Air, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, The General’s Daughter, The Expendables 2) and stars Dominic Cooper, Austin Stowell, Gemma Chan, Tyler Hoechlin, Tom Felton, Thomas Kretschmann, Connie Nielsen, Jake Fairbrother and Sir Derek Jacobi. The movie follows a determined and dedicated SBS operative working alongside MI5 to prevent an international terrorist attack in London.

Nathaniel Mechaly Scoring ‘Midnight Sun’

Nathaniel Mechaly is composing the music for the upcoming thriller series Midnight Sun. The show, which marks the first French/Swedish TV co-prodcution, is directed by Mans Marlind & Bjorn Stein (The Bridge) and stars Leila Bekhti (The Prophet) and Gustaf Hammarsten (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo). The series follows a French detective who teams up with a Swedish detective to investigate the bestial murder of a French citizen in a remote mining community in the far north of Sweden.

Nathaniel Mechaly Scoring ‘Shut In’

Nathaniel Mechaly is composing the music for the upcoming psychological thriller Shut In. The film is directed by Farren Blackburn (Hammer of the Gods) and stars Naomi Watts, Oliver Platt, Charlie Heaton, David Cubitt and Jacob Tremblay. The movie follows a widowed child psychologist who lives in isolation in rural New England and must find a way to rescue a young boy caught in a deadly winter storm. Christina Hodson has written the Blacklist-honored screenplay for the EuropaCorp and Lava Bear Films production. Mechaly has previously scored EuropaCorp’s Taken trilogy, as well as the features Colombiana and Angelique and the TV shows Transporter: The Series and Taxi Brooklyn.

Opening nationwide today is the action thriller sequel Taken 3 directed by Olivier Megaton, produced by Luc Besson and starring Liam Neeson, Forest Whitaker, Famke Janssen, Maggie Grace, Dogray Scott, Sam Spruell and Leland Orser. The film’s original music is composed by Nathaniel Mechaly (Colombiana, Taxi Brooklyn) who previously scored the first two movies in the series. EuropaCorp has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as songs by Glass Animals, Olafur Arnalds & Arnor Dan and The XX earlier this week. Opening in select cities this week is the sci-fi thriller Predestination written and directed by Peter & Michael Spierig and starring Ethan Hawke, Sarah Snook and Noah Taylor. Peter Spierig has also written the film’s original music. No word on a soundtrack album. Predestination follows a Temporal Agent who is sent on an intricate series of time-travel journeys designed to prevent future killers from committing their crimes and must stop the one criminal that has eluded him throughout time and prevent a devastating attack. The thriller premiered at last year’s SXSW Film Festival and is being released by Vertical Entertainment.

‘Taken 3’ Soundtrack Details

EuropaCorp will release a soundtrack album for the action thriller sequel Taken 3. The album features the film’s original music composed by Nathaniel Mechaly (Colombiana, Taxi Brooklyn) who previously scored the first two installments in the series. Also included are the songs from the movie by artists including Glass Animals, Olafur Arnalds & Arnor Dan and The XX. The soundtrack will be released digitally on January 5, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check out audio clips after the jump. Premiering tomorrow, October 13, is the new CW drama Jane the Virgin created by Jennie Snyder Urman and starring Gina Rodriguez, Andrea Navedo, Justin Baldoni, Yael Grobglas, Brett Dier, Ivonne Coll and Jaime Camil. Kevin Kiner (Hell on Wheels, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, CSI: Miami) is composing the show’s score and Gustavo Santaolalla (Brokeback Mountain, The Motorcycle Diaries, Babel) has composed the theme music. Nathaniel Mechaly is reteaming with director Olivier Megaton to score the action thriller sequel Taken 3. The film stars Liam Neeson as ex-covert operative Bryan Mills, whose reconciliation with his ex-wife is tragically cut short when she is brutally murdered and is framed for the crime. Forest Whitaker, Famke Janssen, Maggie Grace, Dogray Scott, Sam Spruell and Leland Orser are co-starring. Luc Besson (Lucy, The Professional, The Fifth Element) has once again written the screenplay with Robert Mark Kamen and is also producing the EuropaCorp and M6 Films production. Mechaly has previously scored the first two installments in the Taken series and also collaborated with Megaton on the 2011 feature Colombiana starring Zoe Saldana.

Also premiering tonight in the U.S. in the BBC adventure series The Musketeers created by Adrian Hodges (My Week With Marilyn, Primeval) and starring Luke Pasqualino, Tom Burke, Santiago Cabrera, Howard Charles, Peter Capaldi, Maimie McCoy, Tamla Kari and Hugo Speer. The show’s original music is composed by Murray Gold (Doctor Who). Nathaniel Mechaly is composing the score for the upcoming action series Taxi Brooklyn. The show is based on Luc Besson‘sTaxi feature franchise and stars Chyler Leigh, Jacky Ido, Jennifer Esposito, Ally Walker, James Colby, Bill Heck, Jose Zuniga and Raul Casso. The action comedy centers on the partnership between a streetwise Marseilles-born New York City taxi driver and an intensely driven NYPD detective for whom this immigrant cabbie becomes chauffeur, insider on the streets and unofficial partner. Gary Scott Thompson (Las Vegas, The Fast And The Furious) is executive producing the EuropaCorp Television production with Edouard de Vesinne and Thomas Anargyros.
