David Menke (Skylines) and the French rock band The Limiñanas have composed the original music for the new Netflix original film The Last Days of American Crime. The film is directed by Olivier Megaton (Taken 2 & 3, Colombiana, Transporter 3) and stars Edgar Ramírez, Michael Pitt, Anna Brewster and Sharlto Copley. The thriller is based on the Radical Publishing graphic novel by of the same title by Rick Remender & Greg Tocchini and centers on a bank robber who joins a plot to commit one final, historic heist before the government turns on a mind-altering signal that will end all criminal behavior. Karl Gajdusek (Oblivion, The November Man) wrote the screenplay.

Nathaniel Mechaly to Return for ‘Taken 3’
Nathaniel Mechaly is reteaming with director Olivier Megaton to score the action thriller sequel Taken 3. The film stars Liam Neeson as ex-covert operative Bryan Mills, whose reconciliation with his ex-wife is tragically cut short when she is brutally murdered and is framed for the crime. Forest Whitaker, Famke Janssen, Maggie Grace, Dogray Scott, Sam Spruell and Leland Orser are co-starring. Luc Besson (Lucy, The Professional, The Fifth Element) has once again written the screenplay with Robert Mark Kamen and is also producing the EuropaCorp and M6 Films production. Mechaly has previously scored the first two installments in the Taken series and also collaborated with Megaton on the 2011 feature Colombiana starring Zoe Saldana.
Nathaniel Mechaly Scoring ‘Taxi Brooklyn’
Nathaniel Mechaly is composing the score for the upcoming action series Taxi Brooklyn. The show is based on Luc Besson‘sTaxi feature franchise and stars Chyler Leigh, Jacky Ido, Jennifer Esposito, Ally Walker, James Colby, Bill Heck, Jose Zuniga and Raul Casso. The action comedy centers on the partnership between a streetwise Marseilles-born New York City taxi driver and an intensely driven NYPD detective for whom this immigrant cabbie becomes chauffeur, insider on the streets and unofficial partner. Gary Scott Thompson (Las Vegas, The Fast And The Furious) is executive producing the EuropaCorp Television production with Edouard de Vesinne and Thomas Anargyros.
Nathaniel Mechaly Returns to Score ‘Taken 2’
According to Evolution Music Partners, Nathaniel Mechaly is set to return to score the upcoming action sequel Taken 2. Liam Neeson will be reprising his role as the retired government operative Bryan Mills from the Pierre Morel-directed 2008 hit film. Maggie Grace is set to reappear as Neeson’s daughter. The movie will be directed by Olivier Megaton (Transporter 3, Colombiana). Deadline has reported a few months ago that Luc Besson has teamed up with Robert Mark Kamen to write the project’s screenplay. With principal photography not expected to begin until the end of the year or early 2012, not much else is known about the project at this point.

The first trailer of the upcoming action thriller Colombiana premiered today and confirms the involvement of composer Nathaniel Mechaly. The film is directed by Olivier Megaton (Transporter 3) and co-written by Robert Mark Kamen (The Fifth Element, Taken, The Karate Kid) and Luc Besson, who also serves as one of the project’s producers. The movie’s cast is toplined by Zoe Saldana and Jordi Molla, Lennie James, Michael Vartan and Cliff Curtis are co-starring. Colombiana centers on a young woman who grows up to be an assassin after witnessing the murder of her parents as a child in Bogota.
