Opening in theaters nationwide today (while also premiering on HBO Max) is the film adaptation of the stage musical In the Heights directed by Jon M. Chu and starring Anthony Ramos, Leslie Grace, Marc Anthony Corey Hawkins, Melissa Barrera, Olga Merediz, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Stephanie Beatriz, Gregory Diaz IV, Dascha Polanco and Jimmy Smits. Atlantic Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the movie written by Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton), including a new original song composed for the film. Also opening wide is the family comedy Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway co-written and directed by Will Gluck and starring Rose Byrne, Domhnall Gleeson, David Oyelowo, Elizabeth Debicki, Margot Robbie and James Corden. The film’s original score is composed by Dominic Lewis (The Man in the High Castle, DuckTales, Money Monster, Free Birds, My Spy, The King’s Man). Lin-Manuel Miranda has recorded a new version of The Magic School Bus theme song for the upcoming Netflix original series The Magic School Bus Rides Again. The track was written by Peter Lurye and performed by Little Richard for the hit show from the 90s. Listen to the cover featured in the trailer for the new reboot after the jump. The animated show features the voices of Kate McKinnon, Miles Koseleci-Vieira, Lynsey Pham & Lily Tomlin and follows Ms. Frizzle’s kid sister Fiona as she takes the wheel at Walkerville Elementary.
