Disney Music Group has announced the details of the Moana: Voices Across the Ocean “inspired by” album. The 15-track album features 14 original songs and one cover song of We Know the Way, co-written by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Opetaia Foa‘i, and featured on the Moana Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. The project brought together 25 up-and-coming Pacific artists who pulled inspiration from the spirit, themes and influence of Disney’s Moana into their own musical worlds and identities. The album, which blends genres of Island Reggae, R&B, Pop, Island Country, Soul, and Dance, will be released digitally next Friday, July 31 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. The experience behind Moana: Voices Across the Ocean comes from Dwayne Johnson (who is also a featured artist and writer on the album), along with his wife, Lauren Hashian and co-executive producers Tiana Nonosina Liufau and Kayla Fa‘amaligi.

Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the live-action adaptation of the animated feature Moana directed by Thomas Kail and starring Catherine Lagaʻai, Dwayne Johnson, Rena Owen, John Tui and Frankie Adams. Walt Disney Records has released three different soundtrack albums: the regular album featuring the songs (also available on vinyl), the deluxe edition featuring both the songs and score, as well as instrumental versions of the songs, and the score album. Also opening wide this weekend is the supernatural horror movie Evil Dead Burn directed by Sébastien Vaniček and starring Souheila Yacoub, Tandi Wright, Luciane Buchanan, Hunter Doohan, Errol Shand, George Pullar, Maude Davey and Greta Van Den Brink. Double Danger (aka Douglas Cavanna & Xavier Caux) (Infested) have composed the film’s original music. WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score last Friday. Walt Disney Records has released the official score album for the live-action adaptation of the animated movie Moana. The album features the film’s original score composed by Mark Mancina (Twister, Speed, Tarzan, Bad Boys, Brother Bear, August Rush, Planes, Con Air, The Sea Beast) who previously scored the 2016 animated feature, as well as 2024’s sequel. Walt Disney Records has announced the official soundtrack album for the live-action adaptation of the Disney animated classic Moana. The album features the songs from the movie, including a new original track, Along the Way, written by Academy Award nominee Lin-Manuel Miranda and performed by Catherine Lagaʻaia (who stars in the title role), original Moana voice actress Auliʻi Cravalho & Dwayne Johnson, as well as new versions of the songs from the animated feature written by Miranda, Opetaia Foaʻi and Mark Mancina. The soundtrack will be released digitally on June 26 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A vinyl edition will be available to order here within the next few days. Mark Mancina (Twister, Tarzan, Moana, Speed, Bad Boys, Brother Bear, August Rush, Cry Macho, The Sea Beast) has confirmed in a recent interview with Film Music Live that he will be involved in the upcoming live-action adaptation of Disney’s animated hit feature Moana. The film is directed by Thomas Kail (Fosse/Verdon) and stars Catherine Laga‘ai in the title role, Dwayne Johnson who reprises his role of Maui, John Tui as Moana’s father, Chief Tui, Frankie Adams as her mother, Sina, as well as Rena Owen as Gramma Tala. Jared Bush (Encanto, Zootopia) and Dana Ledoux Miller (Thai Cave Rescue) wrote the screenplay.

Disney announced today that Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton, In the Heights, Encanto) will serve as a producer on the studio’s upcoming live-action remake of the 2016 animated feature Moana. The movie will be directed by Thomas Kail (Fosse/Verdon, We Were the Lucky Ones) and star Catherine Laga‘aia in the title role of the adventurous teenager who sails out on a daring mission to save her people. Dwayne Johnson will reprise his role of demigod Maui and is joined by new cast members John Tui as Moana’s father, Chief Tui, Frankie Adams as her mother, Sina, as well as Rena Owen as Gramma Tala.
