Weekly Film Music Roundup (July 10, 2026)

Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the live-action adaptation of the animated feature Moana directed by Thomas Kail and starring Catherine Lagaʻai, Dwayne Johnson, Rena Owen, John Tui and Frankie Adams. The film’s original songs are composed by  Lin-Manuel Miranda (Encanto, Hamilton, In the Heights), Opetaia Foaʻi and Mark Mancina (Twister, Brother Bear, Tarzan, Speed, Bad Boys, August Rush, Planes, Con Air) and the film’s original score is composed by Mancina. Walt Disney Records has released three different soundtrack albums: the regular album featuring the songs (also available on vinyl), the deluxe edition featuring both the songs and score, as well as instrumental versions of the songs, and the score album. Also opening wide this weekend is the supernatural horror movie Evil Dead Burn directed by Sébastien Vaniček and starring Souheila Yacoub, Tandi Wright, Luciane Buchanan, Hunter Doohan, Errol Shand, George Pullar, Maude Davey and Greta Van Den Brink. Double Danger (aka Douglas Cavanna & Xavier Caux) (Infested) have composed the film’s original music. WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score last Friday. Waxwork Records will release a vinyl edition. ‘Moana’ Score Album Released

Walt Disney Records has released the official score album for the live-action adaptation of the animated movie Moana. The album features the film’s original score composed by Mark Mancina (Twister, Speed, Tarzan, Bad Boys, Brother Bear, August Rush, Planes, Con Air, The Sea Beast) who previously scored the 2016 animated feature, as well as 2024’s sequel. ‘Moana’ Deluxe Edition Soundtrack Album Details

The details of the deluxe edition version of the soundtrack album for the the live-action adaptation of Disney’s animated classic Moana have been revealed. The album includes the content of the original album featuring the songs from the film written by Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton, Encanto In the Heights), Opetaia Foaʻi and Mark Mancina (Twister, Tarzan, Speed, Brother Bear, Bad Boys, The Sea Beast, August Rush, Planes, Con Air) and performed by the movie’s cast, the  full original score composed by Mancina, as well as instrumental versions of the songs. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, July 8 by Walt Disney Records and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. A score only release will be coming out on July 10. Moana is directed by Thomas Kail and stars Catherine Lagaʻai, Dwayne Johnson, John Tui, Frankie Adams and Rena Owen.

‘Bad Boys’ Digital Score Album (Expanded Edition) Released

Madison Gate Records has released a digital version of the expanded score album for the 1995 action comedy Bad Boys directed by Michael Bay and starring Martin Lawrence, Will Smith, Téa Leoni,  Joe Pantoliano, Tchéky Karyo and Theresa Randle. The album featuring the film’s remastered original score composed by Mark Mancina (Moana, Twister, Speed, Tarzan, Bad Boys, The Sea Beast, August Rush, Con Air, Brother Bear), as well as numerous alternate cues and demo tracks and is now available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. La-La Land Records has previously released a limited CD version this past March (now also available to order on Amazon).

‘Bad Boys’ 30th Anniversary Edition Score Album Announced

La-La Land Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1995 action comedy Bad Boys directed by Michael Bay and starring Martin Lawrence, Will Smith, Téa Leoni, Tchéky Karyo, Joe Pantoliano and Theresa Randle. The album features the film’s newly remastered original score composed by Mark Mancina (Twister, Moana, Speed, Tarzan, Bad Boys, August Rush, The Sea Beast, Con Air, Brother Bear), as well as numerous previously unreleased demo tracks and alternate versions . The 30th Anniversary Expanded Edition is limited to 3,000 copies and is now available to order on Amazon and the label’s official website, where you can also check out audio samples and find out more about the 2-CD set. La-La Land has previously released the premiere score album back in 2007, while Work Records has released the original 1995 soundtrack album featuring songs from the movie and Mancina’s theme.

Walt Disney Records has released a new soundtrack album for Walt Disney Animation Studios’ feature Moana 2. The album features the film’s original score composed by Mark Mancina (Twister, Speed, Tarzan, Bad Boys, August Rush, Brother Bear), including a previously unreleased bonus track. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon (and any other major digital music services), where you can also check out the track list. Also listen to the bonus track (The Eye of Nalo) after the jump. The label has previously released a deluxe edition soundtrack featuring both the songs and score from the movie, as well as the original soundtrack featuring the songs only.

Mark Mancina to Return for Disney’s Live-Action ‘Moana’ Movie

Mark Mancina (Twister, Tarzan, Moana, Speed, Bad Boys, Brother Bear, August Rush,  Cry Macho, The Sea Beast) has confirmed in a recent interview with Film Music Live that he will be involved in the upcoming live-action adaptation of Disney’s animated hit feature Moana. The film is directed by Thomas Kail (Fosse/Verdon) and stars Catherine Laga‘ai in the title role, Dwayne Johnson who reprises his role of Maui, John Tui as Moana’s father, Chief Tui, Frankie Adams as her mother, Sina, as well as Rena Owen as Gramma Tala. Jared Bush (Encanto, Zootopia) and Dana Ledoux Miller (Thai Cave Rescue) wrote the screenplay.

Opening in theaters nationwide this week is the animated sequel Moana 2 directed by Dave Derrick Jr., co-directed by Jason Hand and starring Auli’i Cravalho, Dwayne Johnson, Gerald Faitala Ramsey, Rachel House, Alan Tudyk, Hualālai Chung, Awhimai Fraser, Temuera Morrison and Nicole Scherzinger. The film’s original score is composed by Mark Mancina (Tarzan, Twister, Speed, Bad Boys, August Rush, Brother Bear) and the movie’s original songs are written by Abigail Barlow & Emily Bear (The Unofficial Bridgerton Musical), Opetaia Foa’i and Mancina. Walt Disney Records has released two soundtrack albums featuring the songs and score over the last week. Opening in select theaters this week is the drama Queer directed by Luca Guadagnin and starring Daniel Craig, Drew Starkey, Henrique Zaga, Lesley Manville and Jason Schwartzman. Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross (The Social Network, Soul, Watchmen, Challengers, Gone Girl, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Bones and All) have composed the film’s original score and also contributed an original song. Warner Records has released another song inspired by the movie produced by the composers and performed by Omar Apollo last week. Walt Disney Records will release a second soundtrack album for Walt Disney Animation Studios’ feature Moana 2. The album features all of the film’s original songs written by Abigail Barlow & Emily Bear (The Unofficial Bridgerton Musical), Opetaia Foa’i and Mark Mancina (Tarzan, Twister, Bad Boys, Speed, August Rush, Brother Bear). Also included is the movie’s original score composed by Mancina, as well as six instrumental versions of the songs. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, November 25. Visit Amazon or any other major digital music services to stream/download the album and also listen to the first score track below. The original album featuring the songs was released digitally and physically this past Friday. The full details of the soundtrack album for Disney’s animated musical Moana 2 have been revealed. The album features the film’s original songs written by Abigail Barlow & Emily Bear (The Unofficial Bridgerton Musical),  Opetaia Foa’i and Mark Mancina (Twister, Tarzan, Bad Boys, Speed, Brother Bear) and performed by voice cast members Auli’i Cravalho, Dwayne Johnson, Awhimai Fraser Rachel House & others, as well as Foaʻi’s Polynesian band Te Vaka. The soundtrack will be released digitally on November 22 (click here to order). A CD and vinyl edition is set to come out on January 10, 2025 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A first song (Beyond) is already available to stream/download now (check out our previous article to listen to the track). Moana 2 is directed by Dave Derrick Jr., co-directed by Jason Hand and follows the title character as she receives an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors and must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced.
