Walt Disney Records has released the official score album for the live-action adaptation of the animated movie Moana. The album features the film’s original score composed by Mark Mancina (Twister, Speed, Tarzan, Bad Boys, Brother Bear, August Rush, Planes, Con Air, The Sea Beast) who previously scored the 2016 animated feature, as well as 2024’s sequel. ‘Moana’ Deluxe Edition Soundtrack Album Details
The details of the deluxe edition version of the soundtrack album for the the live-action adaptation of Disney’s animated classic Moana have been revealed. The album includes the content of the original album featuring the songs from the film written by Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton, Encanto In the Heights), Opetaia Foaʻi and Mark Mancina (Twister, Tarzan, Speed, Brother Bear, Bad Boys, The Sea Beast, August Rush, Planes, Con Air) and performed by the movie’s cast, the full original score composed by Mancina, as well as instrumental versions of the songs. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, July 8 by Walt Disney Records and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. A score only release will be coming out on July 10. Moana is directed by Thomas Kail and stars Catherine Lagaʻai, Dwayne Johnson, John Tui, Frankie Adams and Rena Owen.

The album features the songs from the movie, including a new original track, Along the Way, written by Academy Award nominee Lin-Manuel Miranda and performed by Catherine Lagaʻaia (who stars in the title role), original Moana voice actress Auliʻi Cravalho & Dwayne Johnson, as well as new versions of the songs from the animated feature written by Miranda, Opetaia Foaʻi and Mark Mancina. The soundtrack will be released digitally on June 26 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A vinyl edition will be available to order here within the next few days. Lin-Manuel Miranda to Serve as Producer on Disney’s ‘Moana’ Live-Action Film
Disney announced today that Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton, In the Heights, Encanto) will serve as a producer on the studio’s upcoming live-action remake of the 2016 animated feature Moana. The movie will be directed by Thomas Kail (Fosse/Verdon, We Were the Lucky Ones) and star Catherine Laga‘aia in the title role of the adventurous teenager who sails out on a daring mission to save her people. Dwayne Johnson will reprise his role of demigod Maui and is joined by new cast members John Tui as Moana’s father, Chief Tui, Frankie Adams as her mother, Sina, as well as Rena Owen as Gramma Tala.
