Two new movies are opening in theaters nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the comedy Like a Boss directed by Miguel Arteta and starring Tiffany Haddish, Rose Byrne, Salma Hayek, Billy Porter, Jennifer Coolidge, Ari Graynor, Natasha Rothwell, Jessica St. Clair and Karan Soni. The film’s original score is composed by Christophe Beck (Frozen, Ant-Man, Edge of Tomorrow) & Jake Monaco (Let’s Be Cops, Dumplin’). Paramount Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ music. Click here for the full album details.

Also opening wide is the sci-fi horror movie Underwater directed by William Eubank and starring Kristen Stewart, T.J. Miller, Vincent Cassel, John Gallagher Jr., Jessica Henwick, Mamoudou Athie and Gunner Wright. Marco Beltrami (Logan, 3:10 to Yuma, A Quiet Place, Scream) and Brandon Roberts (Free Solo, The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death) have composed the film’s original music. ‘Like a Boss’ Soundtrack Details

Paramount Music will release a soundtrack album for the comedy Like a Boss. The album features the film’s original music composed by Christophe Beck (Frozen, Ant-Man, Edge of Tomorrow, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) & Jake Monaco (Let’s Be Cops, Dumplin’, Keeping Up with the Joneses). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, January 10 and will be available to stream/download here. Like a Boss is directed by Miguel Arteta and stars Tiffany Haddish, Rose Byrne, Salma Hayek, Billy Porter, Jennifer Coolidge, Ari Graynor, Natasha Rothwell, Jessica St. Clair and Karan Soni.

Premiering in the U.S. tonight is the British comedy Back to Life created by Laura Solon & Daisy Haggard and starring Haggard herself, Geraldine James, Richard Durden, Adeel Akhtar, Jamie Michie, Souad Faress and Jo Martin. The show’s original music is composed by Solomon Grey (The Last Post, The Casual Vacancy). A soundtrack album featuring the score was released earlier this year when the series premiered in the UK on BBC (click here for the full album details). The comedy is making its U.S. debut on Showtime.

Also premiering stateside tonight is the crime series Dublin Murders developed by Sarah Phelps based on Tana French’s first two novels in the Dublin Murder Squad crime series and starring Killian Scott, Sarah Greene, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, Moe Dunford, Leah McNamara, Ian Kenny, Eugene O’Hare, Jonny Holden, Conleth Hill and Peter McDonald. Volker Bertelmann (aka Hauschka) (Lion, Adrift, Patrick Melrose, Gunpowder) has composed the show’s original music. Christophe Beck (Frozen, Ant-Man, Edge of Tomorrow, Trolls, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Jake Monaco (Dumplin’, Keeping Up with the Joneses, Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie) have recently been recording their score for the upcoming comedy Like a Boss. The film stars Tiffany Haddish, Rose Byrne, Salma Hayek, Billy Porter, Jennifer Coolidge, Ari Graynor, Natasha Rothwell, Jessica St. Clair and Karan Soni. The movie follows two female friends who build a successful company, then find their relationship tested following a buyout offer. Sam Pitman & Adam Cole-Kelly wrote the screenplay.

Premiering on Tuesday, July 16, is the new CW drama Pandora created by Mark A. Altman and starring Priscilla Quintana, Oliver Dench, Raechelle Banno, John Harlan Kim, Ben Radcliffe, Banita Sandhu, Martin Bobb-Semple and Noah Huntley. The show’s original music is composed by Joe Kraemer (Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, Jack Reacher) and Penka Kouneva (Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, Midnight Movie). Also premiering on Tuesday is the Facebook Watch original series Human Discoveries created by Chris Bruno & David Howard Lee and featuring the voices of Zac Efron, Anna Kendrick, Lamorne Morris, Jillian Bell and Paul Scheer. Jake Monaco (Let’s Be Cops, Dumplin’, Keeping Up with the Joneses, Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie) is composing the show’s original music. The animated comedy, which follows a group of friends living at the dawn of human civilization, will be available to stream exclusively on Facebook Watch.

Jake Monaco Scoring Gil Junger’s ‘Think Like a Dog’

Jake Monaco (Let’s Be Cops, Dumplin’, Keeping Up with the Joneses, Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie) has recently recorded his score for the upcoming family comedy Think Like a Dog. The film is directed by Gil Junger (10 Things I Hate About You, Black Knight) and stars Josh Duhamel, Megan Fox, Janet Montgomery, Kunal Nayyar, Julia Jones, Bryan Callen and Gabriel Bateman. The movie follows a teen tech prodigy whose science-fair experiment goes awry and creates a telepathic connection between himself and his dog. Andrew Lazar (American Sniper, Get Smart Cats & Dogs) is producing the project with Cory Chen.

The only nationwide release this weekend is the 25th Anniversary re-release of the drama Schindler’s List directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Liam Neeson, Ben Kingsley and Ralph Fiennes. The film’s original music is composed by John Williams (Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Jaws, Raiders of the Lost Ark, E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial) who earned his fifth Academy Award for his score. La-La Land Records has recently released a new 2-CD limited edition soundtrack to coincide with the movie’s re-release. Check out our previous news article for the full album details.

Opening in limited release is the drama Vox Lux directed by Brady Corbet and starring Natalie Portman, Jude Law, Cassidy, Stacy Martin, Jennifer Ehle, Christopher Abbott and Willem Dafoe. Scott Walker (The Childhood of a Leader, Pola X) has composed the film’s original score and Sia has written original songs for the movie. Premiering tonight is the new Starz original series Vida created by Tanya Saracho and starring Melissa Barrera, Mishel Prada, Karen Ser Anzoategui, Chelsea Rendon, Carlos Miranda and Maria Elena Laas. The show’s original music is composed by Germaine Franco (Dope, Tag). To learn more about the drama, which follows two Mexican-American sisters from the Eastside of Los Angeles who are forced to return to their old neighborhood, visit the official show website.

Also premiering tonight is the Starz original series Sweetbitter created by Stephanie Danler and starring Ella Purnell, Tom Sturridge, Caitlin FitzGerald, Paul Sparks and Evan Jonigkeit. Jake Monaco is scoring the upcoming comedy series All Night. The show is created by Jason Ubaldi and stars Chris Avila, Brec Bassinger, Chanel Celaya, Ty Doran, Teala Dunn, Allie Grant, Caleb Ray, Eva Gutowski, Tetona Jackson, Gus Kamp, Tom Maden, Jenn McAllister, Austin North, Tequan Richmond, Chester Rushing, Jake Short, Chance Sutton, Noureen DeWulf, Kate Flannery and Dawan Owens. The series centers on a group of teens at an overnight, lock-in graduation party, at which the new grads will do whatever it takes to make their remaining high school dreams come true.

The line-up for two film music-related panels at Comic-Con 2017 has been announced. On Friday, July 21, a number of film/Tv composers will participate in the 9th annual Behind the Music panel presented by CW3PR and Impact24 PR. Jeff Russo (Legion, Fargo), Sean Callery (Jessica Jones, 24), Kris Bowers (Dear White People), Mac Quayle (Mr. Robot, American Horror Story), Siddhartha Khosla (This Is Us, Runaways) and Blake Neely (The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl, Riverdale) will be participating in a discussion moderated by actors Rachel Keller (Legion, Fargo) & Jeremie Harris (Legion,The Get Down). The composers will give insight on how they contribute to many of the most popular fantasy/fiction titles in the TV and film worlds.
