Jake Monaco has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming romantic comedy Playing It Cool. The film is directed by Justin Reardon and stars Chris Evans, Michelle Monaghan, Aubrey Plaza, Giovanni Ribisi, Topher Grace, Ioann Gruffud, Luke Wilson, Martin Starr Ashley Tisdale and Philip Baker Hall. The movie follows a man disillusioned by love who meets an engaged woman and feigns a platonic relationship in order to keep seeing her as he tries to conquer her heart. Chris Shafer and Paul Vicknair (Before We Go have written the Black List-honored screenplay. McG (Charlie’s Angels, Terminator Salvation) and Mary Viola are producing theVoltage Pictures production with Nicolas Chartier (The Hurt Locker) & Craig Flores (Charlie Countryman).

Weekly Film Music Roundup (August 15, 2014)
Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the action sequel The Expendables 3 directed by Patrick Hughes and starring Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Wesley Snipes, Antonio Banderas, Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, Dolph Lundgren, Kelsey Grammer, and Arnold Schwarzenegger. The film’s music is composed by Brian Tyler (Iron Man 3, Fast & Furious, Thor: The Dark World) who previously scored the first two installments in the series. Lionsgate Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score earlier this werk and La-La Land Records will release a CD version later this month. Also opening wide is the sci-fi drama The Giver directed by Phillip Noyce and starring Brenton Thwaites, Odeya Rush, Jeff Bridges, Meryl Streep, Alexander Skarsgard, Taylor Swift, Cameron Monaghan, Emma Tremblay and Katie Holmes. Marco Beltrami (Scream, World War Z) has composed the film’s original score. Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music. ‘Let’s Be Cops’ to Feature Music by Christophe Beck & Jake Monaco
Christophe Beck and Jake Monaco have composed the score for the upcoming action comedy Let’s Be Cops. The film is directed by Luke Greenfield (The Girl Next Door, Something Borrowed) and stars Damon Wayans Jr., Jake Johnson, Rob Riggle, Nina Dobrev, James D’Arcy and Andy Garcia. The movie follows two struggling pals who dress as police officers for a costume party and get tangled in a real life web of mobsters and dirty detectives. Greenfield has also co-written the screenplay with Nick Thomas and is producing the project with Simon Kinberg (X-Men: First Class, Elysium).
Weekly TV Music Roundup (September 22, 2013)
Premiering on Tuesday, September 24, on ABC is Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. executive produced by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen and starring Clark Gregg, Brett Dalton, Ming-Na Wen, Iain De Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge and Chloe Bennett. Bear McCreary (The Walking Dead, Battlestar Galactica) is scoring the show weekly with a full orchestra. Mark Kilian Scoring ‘Parts Per Billion’
Mark Kilian is composing the music for the romantic drama Parts Per Billion. The film is written and directed by Brian Horiuchi and stars Frank Langella, Gena Rowlands, Rosario Dawson, Josh Hartnett, Penn Badgley, Teresa Palmer, Alexis Bledel and Hill Harper. The movie follows three couples dealing with the same reality-shaking event, which threatens to tear them apart. Molly Hassell (Edmond), Jennifer Levine (Delirious), Michael Benaroya (Lawless, Margin Call, The Words) and David Dickson are producing the Benaroya Pictures production.
