The show is created by William Broyles (Cast Away, Apollo 13, The Polar Express) & military special operations veteran David Broyles and stars Walton Goggins, Edwin Hodge, Dominic Adams, Brianne Davis, Nadine Velazquez, Jaylen Moore, Donny Boaz and Nondumiso Tembe. The military drama follows the Navy SEAL Team Six, whose 2014 mission to eliminate a Taliban leader in Afghanistan goes awry when they uncover a U.S. citizen working as a jihadist fighter with the terrorists.

Andy Price to Score History’s ‘Knightfall’
Andy Price has signed on to score the upcoming History original series Knightfall. The show is created by Don Handfield (The Founder, Touchback) and Richard Rayner and stars Tom Cullen, Bobby Schofield, Sabrina Bartlett, Julian Ovenden, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Padraic Delaney, Simon Merrells and Olivia Ross. The drama chronicles the mysterious but true accounts of the Knights Templar, the elite warriors of the Crusades during the 14th century. Jeremy Renner is executive producing the A+E Studios production with Handfield & Rayner, showrunner Dominic Minghella (Doc Martin) and Midnight Radio’s Jeff Pinkner (Alias, Fringe), Andre Nemec & Josh Appelbaum (Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol) and Scott Rosenberg (Beautiful Girls).

Premiering tomorrow, May 30, is the History event mini-series Roots directed by Phillip Noyce, Thomas Carter, Mario Van Peebles and Bruce Beresford and starring Forest Whitaker, Anna Paquin, Laurence Fishburne, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Anika Noni Rose, Chad L. Coleman, Erica Tazel, Derek Luke, Malachi Kirby and Regé-Jean. The 4-parter’s original music is composed by Alex Heffes (The Last King of Scotland, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, 11.22.63). Philip Miller (Catch a Fire) has co-scored the Noyce-directed first episode. Questlove (Top Five) serves as the executive music producer on the project. Soundtrack Album for BBC’s ‘War & Peace’ to Be Released
Dubois Records will release a soundtrack album for the BBC mini-series War & Peace. The album features the 6-parter’s original music composed by Martin Phipps (The Woman in Gold, Brighton Rock, Harry Brown, The Honorable Woman). The soundtrack will be released digitally on May 13, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. War & Peace is directed by Tom Harper and stars Paul Dano, Lily James, James Norton, Jim Broadbent, Gillian Anderson, Brian Cox, Ken Stott, Stephen Rea, Greta Scacchi, Jack Lowden, Tom Burke and Aisling Loftus. The epic drama based on Leo Tolstoy’s classic novel was adapted by Andrew Davies and premiered earlier this year in the UK on BBC and in the U.S. on Lifetime, A&E and History.
Alex Heffes to Score History’s ‘Roots’
Alex Heffes has been hired to compose the music for the upcoming History event mini-series Roots. The 8-parter stars Forest Whitaker, Anna Paquin, Laurence Fishburne, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Anika Noni Rose, Chad L. Coleman, Erica Tazel, Derek Luke, Malachi Kirby and Regé-Jean. The drama is based on Alex Haley’s novel of the same title and chronicles the history of an African slave sold to America and his descendants. Phillip Noyce (Patriot Games, Salt), Thomas Carter (Coach Carter), Mario Van Peebles (New Jack City) and Bruce Beresford (Driving Miss Daisy) are directing the episodes.

Premiering tonight is the Showtime original series Billions created by Brian Koppelman & David Levien and Andrew Ross Sorkin and starring Paul Giamatti, Damian Lewis, Maggie Siff, Malin Akerman, Toby Leonard Moore, David Costabile and Condola Rashad. The show’s original music is composed by ESKMO aka Brenden Angelides. Also premiering tonight is the mini-series Mercy Street created by Lisa Q. Wolfinger & David Zabel and starring Josh Radnor, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Gary Cole, Peter Gerety, Norbert Leo Butz, AnnaSophia Robb and Cherry Jones. David Buckley (The Good Wife, The Forbidden King) has composed the music for the 6-parter, which follows the lives of two volunteer nurses on opposing sides of the Civil War. The epic drama is directed by Tom Harper (Peaky Blinders, The Woman in Black: Angel of Death) and stars Paul Dano, Lily James, James Norton, Jim Broadbent, Gillian Anderson, Brian Cox, Ken Stott, Stephen Rea, Greta Scacchi, Jack Lowden, Tom Burke and Aisling Loftus. Andrew Davies (House of Cards, Bridget Jones’s Diaries) has written the scripts for the 6-parter based on Leo Tolstoy’s classic novel. Davies is also executive producing the project with Faith Penhale & Bethan Jones (Sherlock) for BBC Cymru Wales, Harvey Weinstein & Robert Walak for the Weinstein Company and Simon Vaughan (Ripper Street, Parade’s End) for Lookout Point.

Premiering tomorrow, May 25, is the History mini-series Texas Rising directed by Roland Joffe and starring Bill Paxton, Brendan Fraser, Ray Liotta, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Olivier Martinez, Thomas Jane, Crispin Glover and Jeremy Davies. The show’s original music is composed by John Debney (The Passion of the Christ, Elf, Iron Man 2) and Bruce Broughton (Silverado, Tombstone). Universal Music Group Nashville has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score, as well as the original song Take Me To Texas written by Shane McAnally and Brandy Clark, as well as a cover version of Tom Petty’s I Won’t Back Down performed by Kris Kristofferson and the original piece Igual Que Yo performed by guitarist José Feliciano earlier this week. Also making its U.S. premiere on Memorial Day is the drama Grace of Monaco directed by Olivier Dahan and starring Nicole Kidman, Tim Roth, Frank Langella, Paz Vega, Parker Posey, Derek Jacobi and Milo Ventimiglia. Christopher Gunning (La Vie En Rose) has composed the film’s original score and Guillaume Roussel (3 Days to Kill) has contributed additional music. Hamburger Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ music, as well as classical pieces by Erik Satie, Jean Sibelius and more last year. ‘Vikings’ Season 3 Soundtrack Details
Sony Classical will release a new soundtrack album for the History original series Vikings. The album features selections from the original music from the third season of the show composed by Trevor Morris (The Tudors, The Borgias, Immortals, Olympus Has Fallen). The soundtrack will be released digitally on May 18, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The label has previously released soundtrack albums for the show’s first and second season. Vikings created by Michael Hirst and starring Travis Fimmel, Jessalyn Gilsig, Gustaf Skarsgard, Clive Standen, Katheryn Winnick, Alexander Ludwig, George Blagde and Alyssa Sutherland a tells the story of viking Ragnar Lothbrok who rises to fame by successful raids into England with the support of his family and fellow warriors.
