Air-Edel Records has released a digital version of the first soundtrack album for the ITV drama Agatha Christie’s Poirot starring David Suchet, Hugh Fraser, Pauline Moran, Felicity Lemon and Philip Jackson. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed and conducted by Christopher Gunning (La vie en rose, Grace of Monaco, Under Suspicion,Hands of the Ripper, Man About the House, Goodbye Gemini,Rebecca, The Big Battalions, Pollyanna) who scored the first nine seasons of the series. The soundtrack, which has been newly remastered, is being released digitally for the first time and is now available to stream/download on all major digital music services, including Amazon, where you can also check out the track list. Christopher Gunning (1944 – 2023)
Christopher Gunning has passed away at age 78. The British composer has written numerous scores for film and television over a four decade-spanning career. Among his best known credits is his score for Olivier Dahan’s 2007 biopic La Vie en rose, for which he received the (BAFTA) Anthony Asquith Award. He composed the music for the first nine seasons of the long-running TV show Agatha Christie’s Poirot, for which he was honored with a BAFTA TV Award.
Expanded ‘La Vie en Rose’ Soundtrack Album Announced
Music Box Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 2007 biographical drama La Vie en Rose (La Môme) directed by Olivier Dahan and starring Marion Cotillard (who received an Academy Award for her performance as Edith Piaf), Emmanuelle Seigner, Jean-Paul Rouve, Gerard Depardieu and Clotilde Courau. The 15th Anniversary Edition features the expanded and remastered original score from the movie composed and conducted by Christopher Gunning (Agatha Christie’s Poirot, Grace of Monaco, Under Suspicion), including over 40 minutes of previously unreleased music. Christopher Gunning to Score Lee Daniels’ ‘The United States vs. Billie Holiday’
It was announced today that BAFTA-nominated composer Christopher Gunning (La Vie en Rose, Agatha Christie’s Poirot, Grace of Monaco) will come out of retirement to score the upcoming biographical drama The United States vs. Billie Holiday. The film is directed by Lee Daniels (Precious, The Butler, Empire) and stars Andra Day in the title role of Billie Holiday, alongside Trevante Rhodes, Garrett Hedlund and Natasha Lyonne. The movie is inspired by the 2015 New York Time bestseller Chasing the Scream: The First and Last Days of the War on Drugs and will follow the jazz singer during her career as she is targeted by the Federal Department of Narcotics with an undercover sting operation.

Premiering tomorrow, May 25, is the History mini-series Texas Rising directed by Roland Joffe and starring Bill Paxton, Brendan Fraser, Ray Liotta, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Olivier Martinez, Thomas Jane, Crispin Glover and Jeremy Davies. The show’s original music is composed by John Debney (The Passion of the Christ, Elf, Iron Man 2) and Bruce Broughton (Silverado, Tombstone). Universal Music Group Nashville has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score, as well as the original song Take Me To Texas written by Shane McAnally and Brandy Clark, as well as a cover version of Tom Petty’s I Won’t Back Down performed by Kris Kristofferson and the original piece Igual Que Yo performed by guitarist José Feliciano earlier this week. The album features the film’s original music composed by Christopher Gunning who previously collaborated with the movie’s director Olivier Dahan on La Vie en Rose. Also included are classical pieces by Erik Satie, Jean Sibelius and more. Guillaume Roussel (3 Days to Kill) has composed additional music for the film. The soundtrack will be releasd digitally on May 12, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Grace of Monaco stars Nicole Kidman as Grace Kelly and Tim Roth as her husband, Prince Rainier III. The film is directed by Olivier Dahan and stars Nicole Kidman as Grace Kelly and Tim Roth as her husband, Prince Rainier III. Frank Langella, Paz Vega, Parker Posey, Derek Jacobi and Milo Ventimiglia are co-starring.The movie is set in 1962 and centers on the Oscar-nominated actress as she is being called upon to save Monaco from a crisis over its standing as a tax haven after it was given six months to reform the nation’s tax laws by French leader Charles de Gaulle. Arash Amel (Erased) wrote the screenplay and is also producing the project with Pierre-Ange Le Pogam (Colombiana, Hitman) for Stone Angels and Uday Chopra for YRF Entertainment.
