under-the-skinMica Levi has composed the music for Jonathan Glazer’s upcoming sci-fi thriller Under the Skin. The film is based on a novel by Michael Faber (The Crimson Petal and the White) and stars Scarlett Johannson as an alien disguised as a mesmerizing woman who scours remote highways and backroads for human prey. Glazer has co-written the screenplay with Walter Campbell and James Wilson (Attack the Block) and Nick Wechsler (Magic Mike, The Player, The Road) are producing the project. The thriller marks the film scoring debut of Levi aka Micachu who is best known for her experimental pop music band Micachu and the Shapes. She has previously composed an orchestral piece for the London Philharmonic Orchestra which was performed at the Royal Festival Hall in 2008. Read the rest of this entry »

‘Rush’ Soundtrack Preview

As previously announced, the album features the film’s original music composed by Hans Zimmer (Gladiator, Inception, The Dark Knight), as well as the songs featured in the film by Dave Edmunds, Steve Winwood, Mud, Thin Lizzy and David Bowie. austenlandMadison Gate Records has released a soundtrack album for the romantic comedy Austenland. The album features the film’s original score composed by Ilan Eshkeri (Stardust, Layer Cake, The Young Victoria), as well as the movie’s original songs by Emmy the Great. The soundtrack is now available to download on iTunes, where you can also listen to audio clips. Austenland is written and directed by Jerusha Hess and stars Keri Russell, JJ Feild, Bret McKenzie, Jennifer Coolidge, James Callis, Georgia King, Rupert Vansittart, Ricky Whittle and Jane Seymour. The movie follows a single woman in her 30′s obsessed with Mr. Darcy of the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice who decides to spend her life savings on a trip to a Jane Austen-themed resort in England. ‘NCIS: Benchmark’ Soundtrack Details

ncis-benchmarkArtists’ Addiction Records will release a new soundtrack album for the CBS hit drama NCIS. The album, entitled NCIS: Benchmark, features new tracks from some of the show’s cast members including Michael Weatherly and Pauley Perrette, as well as songs by bands including the Neon Trees and The Boxer Rebellion. Also included is a version of the NCIS Theme composed the series’ composer Brian Kirk. The soundtrack will be released on September 24, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. CBS Records has previously released three different soundtracks for the procedural, including an album featuring Kirk’s score. NCIS is created by Donald P. Bellisario & Don McGill stars Mark Harmon, Michael Weatherly, Pauley Perrette, David McCallum, Sean Murray and Cote de Pablo. lucky-themCraig Wedren is the composer of the upcoming indie comedy Lucky Them. The film is directed by Megan Griffiths (Eden) and stars Toni Collette, Thomas Haden Church, Ryan Eggold, Oliver Platt, Nina Arianda and Ahna O’Reilly. The movie follows a rock journalist who is given the impossible assignment to hunt down a long-unseen revered local musician, and is joined on the road by a music-hating, aspiring documentarian. Huck Botko (The Last Exorcism) and Emily Wachtel have written the screenplay. Wachtel is also producing the Mymy Productions project with Adam Gibbs and Amy Hobby (Secretary, 2000’s Hamlet). visitorsOrange Mountain Music will release a soundtrack album for Godfrey Reggio’s upcoming feature Visitors. The album features the film’s original music composed by Philip Glass (The Hours, Notes on a Scandal) who previously scored the director’s Qatsi Trilogy formed by the films Koyaanisqatsi, Powaqqatsi, and Naqoyqatsi. The music is performed by the Bruckner Orchester Linz and conducted by Dennis Russell Davies. The soundtrack will be released both digitally and physically on September 3, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Visitors marks Godfrey’s first movie in over a decade and is said to “reveal humanity’s trancelike relationship with technology, which, when commandeered by extreme emotional states, produces massive effects far beyond the human species”. hans-zimmerComposer Hans Zimmer has been announced as the winner of this year’s Outstanding Contribution to Music award at the 2013 Classic BRIT Awards. The Academy Award- , Golden Globe- and Grammy-winning composer of such films as The Lion King, Gladiator, The Thin Red Line, The Dark Knight and Inception will be honored with the award at this year’s ceremony on October 2 at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Zimmer is the second film composer to be honored with the Outstanding Contribution to Music award following John Barry who received the award posthumously in 2011. jobsGarage Ingenuity has released a soundtrack album for the biopic Jobs. The album features the film’s original score written by Academy Award-nominated composer John Debney (The Passion of the Christ, Iron Man 2, Elf). Also included are the songs featured in the film by artist including REO Speedwagon, Parish Hall, Toad The Wet Sprocket and Freddy Monday. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon. La-La Land Records will release a physical version on September 10, 2013 (click here to pre-order the CD). Audio clips are embedded after the jump. Jobs is directed by Joshua Michael Stern (Swing Vote) and stars Ashton Kutcher as Steve Jobs. The movie chronicles the defining 30 years of the entrepreneur’s life. The album features the previously unreleased original score composed by Craig Armstrong (Luhrmann’s Romeo & Juliet, Moulin Rouge!). The soundtrack has been released digitally today, August 13 and is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio clips. Interscope has previously released the official soundtrack album for the film featuring the songs from the film. The Great Gatsby based on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan, Joel Edgerton, Elizabeth Debicki, Isla Fisher and Amitabh Bachchan. The movie follows the would-be writer Nick Carraway who leaves the Midwest and comes to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz, bootleg kings, and sky-rocketing stocks. The album features highlights from the original score from the show’s second season composed by Mark Isham (Crash, A River Runs Through It, 42). The soundtrack is now available to order on Intrada’s official website, where you can also listen to audio clips. The label has previously released a soundtrack featuring selections of Isham’s score for the first season. Once Upon a Time is created by Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz and stars Jennifer Morrison, Ginnifer Goodwin, Robert Carlyle, Lana Parrilla and Josh Dallas.
