It was announced today that acclaimed conductor Gustavo Dudamel will be guiding the baton for the film’s recording of Leonard Bernstein’s score for Steven Spielberg’s new film adaptation of West Side Story. As previously reported, David Newman (Anastasia, Ice Age, Serenity) will be arranging the Bernstein score for the new adaptation. Tony Award winner Jeanine Tesori (Broadway’s Fun Home and Thoroughly Modern Millie) will be working with the cast on vocals and Matt Sullivan (Beauty and the Beast, Chicago) will serve as executive music producer for the film.

Weekly TV Music Roundup (November 20, 2016)
Premiering tomorrow, November 21, is the new TBS original series Search Party created by Sarah-Violet Bliss & Charles Roger and starring Alia Shawkat, John Early, John Reynolds, Meredith Hagner and Brandon Micheal Hall. The show’s original music is composed by Brian H. Kim (Hello, My Name is Doris, Significant Mother, G.B.F.). The comedy follows four self-absorbed twenty-somethings who become entangled in an ominous mystery when a former college acquaintance suddenly disappears. Premiering on Tuesday, November 22, on Netflix is the thriller Mercy written and directed by Chris Sparling and starring James Wolk, Caitlin Fitzgerald, Tom Lipinski, Dan Ziskie, Michael Godere, Michael Donovan, Dion Graham and Constance Baron. Phil Mossman (Cop Car, Another Earth, I Origins, Lola Versus) has composed the film’s original music. Opening in most theaters is the family comedy Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day directed by Miguel Arteta and starring Steve Carell, Jennifer Garner, Dylan Minnette, Ed Oxenbould, Kerris Dorsey, Megan Mullally, Jennifer Coolidge and Bella Thorne. The film’s original music is composed by Christophe Beck (Frozen, Edge of Tomorrow, The Hangover). Also opening wide is the drama The Judge directed by David Dobkin and starring Robert Downey Jr., Robert Duvall, Vera Farmiga, Billy Bob Thornton and Vincent D’Onofrio. Thomas Newman (American Beauty, Skyfall, The Shawshank Redemption, Finding Nemo) has composed the film’s original music. ‘Every Day’ Soundtrack released
Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album for the comedy drama Every Day. The album includes the original score by Jeanine Tesori (Nights in Rodanthe). The soundtrack was released yesterday and is now available to download on Amazon and iTunes. Audio clips from all tracks on the album can be checked out below. Every Day is directed by Richard Levine and stars Liev Schreiber, Helen Hunt, Carla Gugino, Brian Dennehy and Eddie Izzard. The movie about a New York couple in romantic crisis has been released in theaters earlier this year and is now available on Blu-Ray and DVD from Image Entertainment.

Two new movies open wide this weekend:
The comic book adaptation The Green Hornet is directed by Michel Gondry and stars Seth Rogen, Jay Chou, Christoph Waltz and Cameron Diaz. The film’s score is composed by James Newton Howard. While no soundtrack release has been announced, an album is reportedly in the works. In the movie, Britt Reid, heir to his father’s large company, teams up with his late dad’s assistant Kato to become a masked crime fighting team.
