tims-vermeerMilan Records will release a soundtrack album for the documentary Tim’s Vermeer. The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by Conrad Pope (My Week with Marilyn, Pavilion of Women). The soundtrack will be released digitally January 28, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio clips. A physical version will be coming out on February 18 and is available to pre-order here. Tim’s Vermeer is directed by Teller of Penn & Teller fame and follows Tim Jenison, a Texas-based inventor, as he attempts to solve the mystery of how 17th century Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer (Girl with a Pearl Earring) managed to paint so photo-realistically, 150 years before the invention of photography. The movie, which made the short list of 15 features to be considered for a nomination in the Best Documentary category for the Academy Awards, is now playing in select theaters. The album features the film’s original music composed by Kevin Kliesch (Thundercats, Sofia the First) who previously scored DC’s Superman: Unbound. penguins-of-madagascarLorne Balfe has signed on to score DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming animated feature The Penguins of Madagascar. The film is directed by Simon J. Smith (Bee Movie) and centers on the penguins from the studio’s Madagscar franchise. Tom McGrath, Chris Miller, John DiMaggio and Christopher Knights lend their voices to the title characters. The spin-off’s voice talent also includes Benedict Cumberbatch and John Malkovich. Michael Colton & John Aboud have written the screenplay and Lara Breay is producing the project. walking-with-dinosaursMetropolis Movie Music will release a soundtrack album for the 3D family action adventure Walking With Dinosaurs. The album features the film’s original music composed by Paul Leonard-Morgan (Limitless, Dredd). The soundtrack will be released on January 21, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also check out audio clips. Walking With Dinosaurs is directed by Neil Nightingale & Barry Cook and features the voices of John Leguizamo, Justin Long, Tiya Sircar and Skyler Stone. The movie centers on two brothers looking to follow in their father’s footsteps, which leads them to a showdown with dinosaurs in the Arctic. The BBC Earth production was released last month by 20th Century Fox and is now playing in theaters.

edge-of-tomorrowChristophe Beck has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming sci-fi action thriller Edge of Tomorrow. The movie is directed by Doug Liman and stars Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt, Bill Paxton, Charlotte Riley, Kick Gurry, Dragomir Mrsic, Jonas Armstrong and Franz Drameh. The film is based on Hiroshi Sakurazaka novel All You Need Is Kill and is set in the near future when an alien race has hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault and follows an officer who finds himself reliving his last day over and over after being killed. Christopher McQuarrie (Jack Reacher, The Usual Suspects) has written the screenplay with Jez Butterworth & John-Henry Butterworth (Fair Game).  Erwin Stoff (Constantine), Tom Lassally (Stay), Jason Hoffs, Gregory Jacobs (Magic Mike) and Jeffrey Silver (TRON: Legacy) are producing the project. The album features the film’s original score composed by Christopher Lennertz (Revolution, Identity Thief, Horrible Bosses). The soundtrack will be released digitally on January 14, 2014 by Back Lot Music and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Ride Along is directed by Tim Story and stars Ice Cube, Kevin Hart, John Leguizamo, Bruce McGill, Tika Sumpter, Bryan Callen and Laurence Fishburne. The comedy follows a fast-talking guy who joins his girlfriend’s brother, a hot-tempered cop, to patrol the streets of Atlanta and gets entangled in the officer’s latest case. BT to Score ‘Solace’

solaceBT announced on Twitter that he is composing the music for the upcoming mystery thriller Solace. The film is directed by Afonso Poyart (Two Rabbits) and stars Anthony Hopkins, Colin Farrell, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Abbie Cornish, Marley Shelton, Xander Berkeley, Sharon Lawrence, Janine Turner and Matt Gerald.  The movie follows an FBI agent who links up with a doctor with psychic abilities to hunt down a serial killer. Producer Sean Bailey (TRON: Legacy, Gone Baby Gone) has written the screenplay with Ted Griffin (Ocean’s Eleven, Matchstick Men),  James Vanderbilt (The Amazing Spider-Man, Zodiac) and Peter Morgan (The Queen, Rush). antonio-sanchezAntonio Sanchez has composed the score for the upcoming comedy Birdman. The film is directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu and stars Michael Keaton, Emma Stone, Naomi Watts, Zach Galifianakis, Edward Norton, Andrea Riseborough and Amy Ryan. The movie follows a former actor, who once played an iconic superhero, as he mounts a Broadway play based on a Raymond Carver short story in a bid to reclaim past glory. Inarritu also co-wrote the screenplay with Alexander Dinelaris, Nicolas Giacobone & Armando Bo (Biutiful) and is also producing the Worldview Entertainment and New Regency production with John Lesher (End of WatchBlood Ties). alan-silvestriAcademy Award-nominated composer Alan Silvestri (Forrest Gump, The Avengers) will be the the special guest film music composer for the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera at the 2014 Chattanooga International Film Music Festival, which will take place from February 28 through March 2, 2014. He will join the festival’s artistic director, Emmy Award-nominee George S. Clinton (Austin Powers, Tooth Fairy, Wild Things), for a weekend of seminars with composers such as Clinton and Sundance Film Music Program director Peter Golub. There will also be a panel discussion moderated by BMI’s Doreen Ringer Ross, a screening of Robert Zemeckis’ Back to the Future followed by a discussion with Silvestri, as well as open rehearsals and two film music concerts with the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera.
